Read moreDecided to give this a shot as it was the only Greek restaurant open near us past 9 PM. The large amount of positive reviews was a driver as well.
The restaurant decor was actually really cool, and we thought it was quite a neat little spot.
It would have been nice to be welcomed with a friendly greeting - instead, despite the fact that we had just walked into the restaurant, the first thing the woman at the counter said to either of us before we even walked to the cash was “do you know what you want?” When we went to leave, we were given nothing but a really curt “bye” and that was it - normally we don’t comment on service, but it was noticeably off-putting this time around.
As others mentioned, it was about bang on average with other Greek restaurants in terms of price - $22 for a chicken souvlaki dinner. That said, it left a lot to be desired - the potatoes weren’t seasoned at all, the salad was extremely light on dressing, and certainly wasn’t a traditional Greek salad like we had hoped. The portion sizes were also quite small as well - although two skewers were included in the meal and were tasty, we weren’t given a lot of accompaniments to go with. In addition, only getting one small tzatziki cup per dinner was disappointing.
In my opinion, although the food is decent, I would certainly rather make the trip 10 minutes down hwy 7 and go to either Zets or Hello Greek before going...
Read moreWe tried Yiannis Corner for the first time. We give it 5 stars... ALL the way. The young lady at the counter was extremely friendly and had a lovely smile. We had Chicken Gyros($11.00 ea.), which were excellent! It reminded me of some of the Gyros they serve on the Greek islands.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is coming from a Greek/Canadian who grew up around some of the finest Greek food. The side orders(see picture) were freshly prepared and very tasty. The Greek salad ($6.00 small) had CRISP vegetables, a generous amount of feta cheese, and topped off with a couple of kalamata olives. The french fries ($5.00) were nicely seasoned with oregano. Order at the front counter, pay cash(10%discount), and have a seat. They serve it to you on real plates! I couldn't resist trying the rice pudding($6.00), and it was good (some more raisins and cinnamon would make it even better). We highly recommend trying this place. There is no need to drive all the way to Greektown in Toronto when Yiannis Corner is just around THE CORNER! We will be back and bring some...
