Title: A Culinary Resurgence: A Delightful Return to CATCH 22 GOURMET FOODS After a four-year hiatus, CATCH 22 has made a triumphant return, treating patrons to a gastronomic journey that exceeds expectations. From the moment we stepped through the door, the ambiance resonated with a renewed vibrancy, setting the stage for an exceptional dining experience. The menu, a testament to the chef's dedication and creativity, showcased a fusion of flavors that delighted the palate. Our starters, such as the MUSSELS with saffron (chefs feature), ROCKET CAESAR & MUSHROOM TOAST were a perfect prelude to the culinary adventure that awaited. Each bite revealed a meticulous attention to detail, and the presentation was nothing short of artistry. The main course featured a symphony of textures and tastes, with standout dishes like the JAMBALAYA & and my lovely wife had the SEAFOOD PAELLA stealing the spotlight. The ingredients were fresh, and the flavors were expertly balanced, showcasing the chef's mastery of the culinary craft. It was evident that the hiatus had not dulled their culinary prowess but rather served as a catalyst for culinary innovation. Equally impressive was the seamless service we experienced. The staff's enthusiasm and knowledge of the menu were commendable, contributing to the overall enjoyment of our dining experience. They effortlessly navigated the delicate balance between attentiveness and allowing us to savor each course at our own pace. To cap off the evening, the dessert selection was a sweet crescendo, leaving us with lingering flavors that will undoubtedly beckon us back. The STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING & CHEESECAKE was a divine conclusion to an already stellar meal, leaving a lasting impression. In summary, CATCH 22 has not only returned but has redefined itself, emerging as a culinary gem that demands attention. From the delectable dishes to the impeccable service, our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. This restaurant has not just reopened; it has triumphantly reclaimed its place among the city's culinary elite. Welcome back, CATCH 22 and thank you for an unforgettable evening.

The only restaurant worth visiting in the wider area for a genuine culinary experience. Both seafood and non-seafood dishes are served fresh with layers of creativity, attention to detail and sophisticated understanding of flavour combination. Culinary methods and service mirror European styles. I never miss this place when visiting. Staff is knowledgeable and professional. Menu and wine selection impressive, particularly so when considering the area and alternatives. I recommend asking your servers or Chef for suggestions on what to order. I’ve never been less than very satisfied here. Be sure to make a reservation. I suggest arriving shortly after opening and working your way through the menu and wine list over several hours. I do not agree with the low reviews claiming rude staff - even if tables are empty when you walk in, they are all reserved- negative reviews of this nature only justify the restaurant’s overall high rating. Servers are happy and capable of suggesting wine pairings, making recommendations and explaining dishes but are not chatty and will keep a degree of familiar separation - as one would expect from such an establishment.

I'd asked our hotel for recommendations, as well as the locals from mini-golf and the beach, on a nice restauraunt. Although it was closed for dine-in, they said even for take-out, Catch 22 was supposed to be the best. With so many recommendations we decided to give it a try. Unfortunately it did not meet expectations. Let's start with the baguette, on the menu it says "Baguette with our signature sun-dried tomato roasted garlic butter". What we got (see photos) was a raw, untoasted baguette that was also uncut. The tomato garlic butter was in a small container, however we did not recieve any utensils, so, how exactly were we supposed to (i) cut the baguette in half, (ii) spread the tomato butter and (iii) cook it? I realize some people may live in Wasaga but they should put a warning for hotel guests about ordering dishes like these. The fries were soggy, probably a result of the fact its only take out, so thats reasonable, however the star was probably the Mac N Cheese which was the only part of the meal not overcooked/undercooked, able to eat and salvageable.

Last night my wife and I celebrated our 15 year anniversary with our three daughters at Catch 22. We arrived early for our 7:15pm reservation and were greeted at the door promptly. As they walked us to our table I requested a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate. Our server came by to confirm the bottle order and take our daughters' drink request. When our server came with the drinks the unfortunate happened: the tray tipped and the beverages fell resulting in shattered glass, wet clothes, a small cut on my finger and lemon in my eye. The server was mortified and we felt terrible for him. I went to clean myself up while the server and a colleague cleared everything away. 15 minutes later - at 7:50pm - our bottle arrived along with the drinks. The rest of the night went off without a hitch and the food delivered.

The reason for my poor review is this: at 9:05pm we got the bill which included that bottle of prosecco, a bottle of red, multiple starters, multiple steaks with paid-premium sides. Not an inexpensive meal at all. We still had full glasses of wine to enjoy so I didn't open the bill. One minute later the owner of the establishment came over to give us a nudge to pay. I understand that you close at 9pm on Thursdays but considering the delay was in no way our fault I hardly understand the move. Furthermore, at no point during the ordeal did management/ownership come by to check on us and see if we were alright. Finally, no items were comped on the bill - not even an iced tea. I paid the bill (with 15% gratuity), chugged my wine and left without so much as a goodbye, thank you or apology.

It's too bad that a restaurant with a nice atmosphere and good food within walking distance from me is never to be enjoyed by us again but this is the service industry and that starts with management/ownership.

Follow up:

Today I had the pleasure of having a conversation with Bob and Debbie - the owners of this restaurant- and after discussing their experience on July 10th I had to write a follow up review because we never know the circumstances leading up to certain events. After giving me a play-by-play of their day I have to say that I’m blown away by how they were even able to open for service on that night! Not only did they open but their food and service were exceptional. Colour me embarrassed! I definitely learned a life lesson here: listen to all sides of the story before rushing to conclusions. Thank you for sharing your story. Yours is definitely an establishment that my wife and daughters will enjoy for...

I was there April 13 this year. I had without a doubt the best seafood meal I have ever had. Apparently I was very rude to the waitress, mom and wife of the guys, and the establishment. My wife was embarrassed by me, and kept say just let it go as I never know when to stop. It was over whether the vermouth was sweet red in my Manhattan. I called her back 4 or 5 times at the table. And I made a rude comment on the way out which most of the patrons heard. I kinda meant it as a joke. She checked with bartender, showed me the bottle, and then brought a shot. And it didn’t look red to me. I came back on the Wednesday and apologized . It ends up that the vermouth she gave me was the same as I had. It came in an appertif glass that was tinted a lite colour, so did not look red to me. I used a clear glass of the same product, and it was deep red and my wife thought it was red wine. So it was misunderstanding on my part and it was way overboard on my part. When I went back to apologize, her and her husband were disgusted with my behaviour and very angry, and rightly so. So if you were a patron that night, or heard about it from someone else, I also apologize to you. Catch 22 is definitely the best restaurant any...
