We didn't want a traditional wedding cake - we wanted the tastiest cake around. We sampled a lot of cakes and the ones from Sabletine were far and away the best tasting. We got three 8" cakes for our wedding of 24 people and had some left over for our honeymoon!
I wasn't super happy with the ordering process - I would have preferred to order via email, since that's how we'd worked out the details of our custom order. Having to call it in, then wait while the person conferred with the person I'd been emailing with, then called me back the next day to confirm my order was a bit clunky and sort of aggravating. However, the cake more than made up for this. They were also ready for pick up as arranged and the counter person offered to help me carry them out to the car. They have small tart versions of most of their cakes which made it easy to taste test them as many times as we needed to in order to be sure that these were what we wanted. (Just kidding. We decided after the first time and then "confirmed" a couple more times because they were so amazing)
The cakes we chose were: le ventoux, gateau au citron, and a custom coconut cream cake.
Le ventoux was amazing - 3 kinds of melt-in-your-mouth chocolate mousse covered with rich ganache.
The gateau au citron had a delicious lemon curd between vanilla layers, but we had them use a vanilla buttercream instead of the white chocolate buttercream they usually use on that cake. The buttercream was amazing - not greasy or heavy at all but smooth and delicious.
Our favourite cake was the coconut cream: vanilla layers with coconut cream between them, covered in a meringue frosting that somehow stayed soft, sprinkled with big slices of toasted coconut. It was, frankly, out of this world.
Extra bonus: it smells absolutely amazing...

EDIT: I spoke to the manager and apparently, picking up by the pastry liner is the normal thing to do. She was very sarcastic and condescending about my concerns and said, "We will ensure you have a stellar experience next time."
Heard lovely reviews so I decided to stop by to pick up some pastries for the long weekend. My first impression was that the front staff was standoffish and had trouble understanding what I was ordering (despite being a native English speaker), but was friendly to other patrons.
I was also not pleased at the way she used her bare hands to grab the pastries I ordered after handling cash. Even Tim Hortons uses some sort of barrier or tongs to grab food items... come on.
She just threw my pastries in the box without care (they overlapped each other) and sealed the box. Like wow. I'm shocked at how awful the service is! No matter how good the pastries and cookies I got were, I don't think I'll be coming back to support...

As long-time customers of Sabeltine, we were deeply disappointed by how the owner handled a recent issue that should have been addressed with care and professionalism. We purchased four almond croissants, only to find a dog hair embedded in one of them. Given the health concerns, we contacted the owner, hoping for a swift resolution. Unfortunately, she offered to refund only the one croissant with the hair, and when we explained that we no longer felt comfortable eating the others, she dismissively told us that what we chose to do with them was âup to us.â
As a nurse, I was shocked by her lack of concern for food safety and customer trust. We had hoped to support a local business, but the ownerâs arrogant response and disregard for our legitimate concerns were appalling. Her handling of this situation shows a complete lack of respect for the hard-earned money of her customers, especially in todayâs economy.
Where thereâs one hair, there could be more, and this experience has left us questioning the standards at Sabeltine. We regret that our long-standing support for this business ended in such an unsatisfactory and...
