Me, my husband, and our adult son tried The Foundry. We were disappointed to be told we would have to wait an hour for a table, especially when empty ones looked available. We were told they were waiting on customers who had been called to say their table was ready. At any rate, we waited and were glad to get a table in about ten minutes.
We were seated and a few minutes later we ordered drinks. The server brought the men's drinks, but unfortunately, I had to order a different one as they were out of an ingredient for mine. Soon, we had drinks and ordered an app and mains.
For an app, we got the cheeseburger dip with nacho chips. For the mains, Hubby ordered the fish and chips, our son ordered the pesto chicken pizzaz, and I ordered the chicken on a bun with Alfredo sauce.
A little while later the server returned to say they were out of fish and chips, and when hubby tried to order chicken tender bites, was told they were out of those too. He settled on the bbq whiskey burger.
After what felt like a long wait - almost half an hour, our app arrived. The nachos were quite salty, almost to the point of non edible. We ate it and drank our drinks. Other than the salt, it was pretty tasty, and it held off the hunger while we waited for our mains.
Again, after a fairly long wait, we were told our meals would be out on one minute. Ten minutes later we had our meals. We ate. The food was good. It was hot and tasty. The fries were nothing to write home about: shoestring fries and just okay. Hubby's burger looked somewhat small, more like a big meatball than a burger. They might try flattening it more or using a leaner ground beef to fix that. But it was good. My son's pesto chicken with fettuccine was really good. My chicken on a bun was a whole breast! That was pretty surprising. My meal didn't really need the fries, the sandwich was so big. It was tasty and the use of Alfredo sauce on it is inspired.
The men decided on desserts and placed their order. Once again, we waited. Once again, we got told it would be out in one minute, and once again, it was more like ten minutes. Due to the half hour wait since ordering dessert, I was surprised when both were served cold. I thought the lengthy wait was due to one being cooked. Both were apparently very good. The had the peanut butter cup pie, and the sticky toffee bun.
In all, we were there almost three hours. We only waited about ten minutes to get a table, so the rest of it was "dining".
The Foundry is very new. It will take some time for kitchen and servers to get into a rhythm. They could probably use more staff in both kitchen and serving. Perhaps servers could be trained to manage the cold desserts in the meantime.
Overall, the food was excellent and kudos to the kitchen staff for not letting quality go in an attempt to speed up. Yes, there were really long wait times, but we were not in any great hurry, so it did work out.
Our server was pretty attentive, despite being very busy. The restaurant was pretty packed, especially without use of the patio due to the rain.
I recommend The Foundry and we...
Read moreWe've been here quite a few times since it opened. First couple of times it was a great experience and in fact I posted a review that their "Hunter Style Chicken" may be the best meal I've ever had. I've had it a few times since and its just gone downhill since. We were there Saturday and it took 45 minutes from the time we ordered our food, "The Hunter Style Chicken" and my wife's meal, "Alfredo Fettuccine" to arrive and they were only luke warm, if that. The chicken was tasteless, chewy and dried out, and the Fries were likewise. For 45 minutes to prepare, the carrots were undercooked and pretty much raw.. My wifes Alfredo Fettucchine was luke warm and the sauce was watery instead of creamy. Our server was too busy at the bar to check if our meal was ready. Someone else brought it out. I like ketchup with my fries. But there wasn't any on the table. While I tried my chicken and vegetables, I finally caught our server going past and asked him if I could get some ketchup, and he left before we could ask for a spoon for her Fettucchine. He dropped the ketchup off and in a blink of an eye was gone again. I had to call him over again to get the spoon. We didn't see him again until it was time to pay. We spent $73 there between food and drinks. Loved the atmosphere of the place, but sorry to say, we won't be back.
Edit: Thank you for your honest reply to my review, and because of that, we've decided to return to "The Foundry"! We don't need more eating establishments as much as we need eating establishments that care about what their patrons think of the food that's being served. Many places where a person can eat, seem to slack off after awhile on this, as long as they are seating...
Read morePrivate catered event for brunch. $40 a person. Underwhelming is an understatement. Served toast, hash browns, scrambled eggs, bacon, some fresh fruit, pancakes and mini donuts. So a very basic breakfast buffet, extremely over priced. For that price you expect that most of the food would be made fresh. Nope. Hash browns deep fried from frozen. So easy to make your own. Scrambled eggs, liquid eggs boiled in bag style with some butter and chives added. The pancakes were pre-made frozen so the taste like sh!t and hard. Bacon hopefully was cooked fresh and Texas style toast. Fresh fruit is fresh fruit surprisingly. Then dessert was those cheap mini donuts you can get from Walmart. Best part was we had a group of 25 people and they didn’t have enough food to serve us, yah unbelievable. So you had take less so everyone could have a slice of bacon. Asked if they had more coming. The cook came out looked annoyed and went back in the kitchen to never be seen again. Serving staff rude and not friendly. They said they would look into seeing if more food was coming or they offered that we could have more of that yummy boiled scrambled eggs lol. Paid a huge premium for the ‘brunch’, I mean basic breakfast which most of us left hungry and annoyed that we spent $40 a person. I guess that saying goes you get what you get and you don’t get upset. Same with when they don’t get repeat business. I wish I took...
