The place was easy to miss as it’s a combination of pizza and Japanese food, with the signage for pizza being huge and only a small banner for the Japanese food that’s tucked away in corner. We drove around twice because we couldn’t see the sign for the Japanese food. It’s a small space inside with very few seating and you’re almost elbow to elbow with the other customers when sitting down.

The food itself was okay but it took 30 minutes for the main course to arrive after we had our appetizer.

The chicken karaage was okay, although it could use more flavour and consistency, as some pieces felt like they came from different batches.

We had the miso ramen and black garlic tonkotsu. The broth for both was excellent - rich and deep flavours. The noodles were different kinds for both though, and the miso ramen’s noodles were a bit hard while the noodles for the tonkotsu was bordering overcooked. The egg that came with them was cold in the middle.

Portion wise, they gave us a lot which is good for the price we paid.

Considering that this place is new, there’s definitely room for improvement and we’re willing to give it another try in...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Shiawase Ramen, and it was nothing short of a culinary delight! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately set the stage for an incredible dining experience.

I couldn't resist trying their Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen, and it was pure perfection. The rich, creamy broth was packed with flavor, and the level of spiciness was just right – enough to add a kick without overpowering the dish. The noodles were cooked to perfection, and the toppings were fresh and abundant, making every spoonful a burst of deliciousness.

I also loved the Chicken Karaage. The crispy exterior gave way to tender, flavorful chicken inside, and the accompanying dipping sauce was a delightful complement.

What truly sets Shiawase Ramen apart, though, is their exceptional service. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about their offerings. They took the time to explain the menu and even made recommendations based on my preferences, making me feel like a valued guest.

I will...

Easily one of Edmonton’s best hidden gems. Delicious ramen and appetizers in a small strip mall restaurant. Super friendly owner who appreciates your business serves ramen with rich flavorful broth but strangely non oily. The black garlic tonkatsu ramen is rich and creamy with lots of flavor. Char su is plentiful and smoked. Best of all, the large whole egg tastes like a Chinese 1000 year egg and had one of the best fillings I’ve ever had in ramen.

Regular ramen is also equally rich and flavorful. The chicken karrage is large for an appetizer and came piping hot. Perfectly lightly breaded dark meat with a delicious mayo, it’s generously sized for the price and shouldn’t be missed.

For some reason, the storefront says “Monty’s” and they also serve pizza but come for the ramen. Purists might comment that the noodles are actually chow Mein noodles and not ramen noodles but the broth and ingredients are so good, I couldn’t care less. Well worth your time and money. Very fast service. We will...
