Don’t be fooled by the cute welcoming name of this coffee shop!
I hate leaving -ve reviews for local businesses but honestly, I have to. I’ve been going to Horseshoe Bay for years and only patronized Starbucks because I thought there was only Starbucks and Blenz to choose from. But Starbucks was closed down for months during the winter for renos and suddenly I noticed Seaside Village was literally across the street. How could I have missed it all these years?! So I went in and excitedly said to the old lady owner, “Wow, you must be getting so much business now that Starbucks is closed, I’m so happy to try out your café!” Well she was so miserable and said, “Oof I hate it! They all come here and want to sit sit down at the tables so long, I hate that!” And she pointed at the poor guy sitting at a table. (Her only customer!) He looked totally shocked and I was mortified.
I ordered a chai latte and originally wanted to sit inside to enjoy it, but she was so incredibly unwelcoming and grumpy that I had to sit in my car to drink it! And to top it off, it wasn’t even good (very weak and bland) though her prices are the same as Starbucks. Usually small cafés have very good drinks, but not this one.
She needs to retire because she really doesn’t enjoy the public. It was a most unpleasant experience and I will never go back again.
PS it’s also very very small. She only a few places to sit, but she doesn’t want you...
Read moreWhat a lovely little place! So quaint and cosy. I had it mostly all to myself on this rainy day, after finishing a nearby hike, and I just wanted to grab a coffee and sit with my book. I sat at the counter along the windows, flower boxes on the outside. Very comfortable and relaxing. I looked up at the low-level clouds going through the mountains across the way. Nicely situated place. The proprietress was pleasant, quietly reading a novel on this lazy, drizzly day. I stayed until closing. As she closed up shop, we had a brief chat and she was lovely as we talked about hiking. I think it is so much better (and important) to support a local independent shop than the big chains. I don't get the the Village often, but I'll be sure to be back! Check it out next time...

There are a few tables where you can sit and enjoy your meal, a window bar with a pretty view of the calm street, and even a little spot to play chess if you're so inclined! While enjoying my visit, there were quite a few locals that came in for a snack, coffee, or just a chat and you can just tell how much of a gem this is to Horseshoe Bay. 10/10 would recommend...
