Read moreThis is my third time trying this place out and each time I'm more disappointed with the experience.
I came with my mother and brother. We ordered 2 pizzas, a tea latte, hot coco and cappuccino, all made with oat milk.
When I placed the order, I was told it would be around a 30min wait. Not a problem as there's a beautiful view and we had our drinks to pass the time.
I took the first sip of my capp and it did not taste like oat milk. Took it back and to my surprise the barista says they made one big steamed jug of oat milk and used that for all the drinks.
If that's true, the only way mine wouldn't taste like oat milk is if the pitcher used wasn't rinsed properly. They're lucky I didn't have a dairy allergy and it was a preference.
The other issue I have is for the price of these drinks, and the long wait for pizza, I expect care put into my drinks. Every drink should have been steamed individually. Especially for my order.
I'm a barista, so I know how drinks are made.
A hot chocolate should be steamed to be hotter than the other two drinks.
A capp should be texturized differently and a cooler temp than a hot coco
A tea latte should be steamed to a latte temp and texturized like one.
I wanted to ask them all to be remade but I felt bad as they were busy. Looking back, I should have. I spent almost $90 (including a 20% tip which I now regret) for everything and I should have received quality!
Now onto the pizza.
I was told 30min. I expect it to be about that time, maybe a bit longer but not AN HOUR! That is ridiculous. Had my family and I known it'd be an hour we would have only ordered drinks.
We watched, growing more and more annoyed at the wait getting longer and longer. The sign warning of the wait times constantly changing to be longer than what was said.
Honestly, they should be providing something complementary when wait times go up (a free dipping sauce, some bread slices, anything small!)
When we finally got our two pizzas, one of them was WRONG! Not only did we spend $90 for poorly made drinks and a constantly changing wait time, the employees couldn't even take the time to make sure our order was right.
We got the right pizza in the end but there was no apology for the mistake or the wait and that rubs me the wrong way.
I've given this place three chances and there won't be a fourth. If it weren't for the location, I don't think The Shed would be doing nearly as well and for anyone thinking about checking this place out...
DO NOT ORDER ANY COFFEE DRINKS (better off just having a beer)
BE PREPARED TO WAIT AN HOUR FOR PIZZA (Especially at lunch time or on nice days)
AVOID TIPPING UNTIL AFTER YOU GET YOUR ORDER (tipping should be based on quality, and attention to detail. Can't know what your experience will be like until after you've...
Read moreLocated near the base of Cypress Mountain, the Shed is a cozy spot to go for lunch or dinner either before or after going to Cypress.
The atmosphere is likely what most people come here for. The entire restaurant is outdoor with a covered roof area on days where it may be raining. The view is AMAZING though. From the restaurant you can see nearly, if not all, of the GVA. They even have a map that shows what you are looking at from the viewpoint.
The food itself tastes great. I came here with a group of 6 so I got to try a slice of nearly all their pizzas and the majority of them packed lots of flavor. The crust was cooked just right and was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. I docked a star here mostly because of the issues I personally experienced with some of our orders. This leads me into the service portion.
Service was a bit unusual. Initially the staff that greeted us was friendly and patient with all our questions as we ordered 6 pizzas. We cashed out and so far so good. Upon picking up the pizzas 1 of the 6 didn't have the ingredient we were told would be on it. The pizza was supposed to have Feta Cheese, Red Peppers, Arugula and Kalamata Olives. The pizza arrived only with the Green Peppers and Kalamata Olives. It was difficult to tell if the Feta was even on it but I gave them the benefit of the doubt.
When confronted, they said they ran out of red peppers and Arugula. Only then did they offer to substitute the Arugula with some Mushrooms they heated up on the side. Even worse was that right after I took my pizza back, I watched one of the cooks put Arugula on another customer's pizza. There could have been some better communication here before making the pizza to try to find an alternative as opposed to half doing one.
Despite this slightly negative experience, I'd be willing to give it another shot. The other 5 pizzas arrived just right and all tasted great so I imagine this was a one off circumstance.
Great place to stop for great tasting pizza, amazing views and a...
