WR BAR & GRILL — Restaurant in White River Township

AMAZING!!! We’re driving back to the Bruce Peninsula from Vancouver Island and we’ve been living off instant noodles so we thought we’d treat ourselves. Got the fish and chips and the butter chicken and DAMNNNN I was not expecting such quality food in the middle of nowhere!! The fish batter was perfectly crisp and the chips are perfection, just crisp enough and soft in the middle, also the flavour was excellent!! The butter chicken was very impressive! First of all, I wasn’t even expecting it on the menu so I had to try it! For a bar and grill in northern Ontario, this butter chicken was especially tasty! Not watery like some other places, and the ingredients are very clear (looks home made). It’s also served with salad, lemon rice, and naan, creating a perfectly balanced and healthy meal!! The portions for both dishes were perfect, leaving us both slightly stuffed but still comfortable (what I want from a restaurant during a road trip)! The price of these dishes was also awesome! $21 for each, which is pretty much the highest price I saw on the menu. Totally reasonable! WAIT! STOP! If you are on the trans-canadian highway going through White River, you need to stop at the WR Bar & Grill and order the butter chicken. My wife, who's from England and has been born and raised on Indian butter chicken says that this is one of the best she's had. I haven't had as much as she, so I'm hardly a connoisseur but my God I loved it. It was so delicious. Even the Naan bread, such a simple side was, tasty and light. The host was exemplary. He was happy and courteous and attentive. I asked him where the chef learned to cook butter chicken like this, he said that he was taught in India and has brought the recipe with him. I wish that they would move this to the town where I live right now, LOL I would eat there often. Does fresh food, served pleasantly in a cozy atmosphere appeal to you? What if I told you that you can consistently get this at the WR Bar and Grill in White River? Whenever I have to work close to White River I go to the WR Bar and Grill. Canadian favourites like their Fish and Chips is a Home Run. Super 'crispy on the outside-moist on the inside' fish with fresh cut fries and a delicious Cole Slaw---amazing! Then there's the time I had the daily special of Butter Chicken with fluffy rice and Naan and I was blown away again. Pasta? No problem. Burgers? Huge. Everyday they are open now and everyday you'll have a Special that will satisfy your hunger without breaking the bank.
