My Place — Restaurant in Wilmot

Terrible experience, we will not be back. Literally my worst restaurant experience ever. When we came in we waited to be seated, and it was really unusual. The server ignored us, and we started to wonder if we were supposed to seat ourself. Eventually we flagged down the server (who was walking back and forth in front of us not making eye contact) and asked if we should wait or just find a seat - she pointed our group of 5 to sit at a table with 4 spots. This should have been our warning. After a few awkward moments we flagged her down again and asked if we could pull another table over to make it a table of 5. Perfect, good to go. It took over an hour until we got out food. My daughter received her order 15 minutes before the last of us was served. Our food was lukewarm at best, so clearly it was ready and just not being served. Large eggshell piece in one meal, uncooked veggies in another, entirely wrong item for a third, and in total it was about 1.5 hours between when we ordered and when we all had food in front of us. Keep in mind we ordered breakfast food - toast, eggs, bacon - all things that cook quickly. The coffee mugs were small, which is fine, but when the server only fills them part way leaving 2 inches at the top, and rarely comes back, then we ended up spending a lot of time looking at empty coffee mugs while waiting a long time for our food. Another couple came in a half hour after us and was served and fed before we received anything. Another couple gave up and left in a huff when they couldn't flag down the server and weren't getting served.

In a world of factory assembly lines and stressful compartmentalization where one never sees anything but his own small contribution to the big picture, there is something to be said for the charm and hominess of a small operation that sees everything through to completion. There is usually one waitress, and she is so polite, friendly, and professional. There is usually one cook, and she shows pride in her work and uses real ingredients in real time with a taste for flavour. Absolutely horrible service. We sat down at 9:10 am and ordered our food right away. Every table around us had been served and all we got was coffee. We asked about our food 3 times and got “your food is next to be made” each time. Each time, another table was served before us. After an hour and 10 minutes of no food, we got up, offered to pay for the coffees, and left. Do not recommend you go here unless you’ve placed your order well in advance.
