Black Market Provisions — Restaurant in Winnipeg

I recently ordered cookies from Black Market Provisions to support the Transgender Day of Visibility fundraiser and when I stopped by to pick them up, browsed the shop.

It's quite a small storefront, but provides a wide selection to choose from: "a curated collection of gifts, housewares, pantry provisions, greeting cards, trinkets and treasures, and house made food ranging from soups and salads to cookies and ice cream".

I noticed in the fresh foods cooler that they carried Curry Chicken Salad--something that I love, but which is often difficult to fine (or if you can find it, it's disappointing). I picked some up to give it a try and ended up eating it all with a fork as soon as I got home--I couldn't even wait to make a sandwich with it, it was that good! It's cream, has a good curry flavour without being overly spicy (TBH, for me, it could be spicier!), and with a good crunch from celery and texture from chopped dried apricots. If you like Curry Chicken Salad, this is definitely a place to check out! Next on my list to try is their Borscht.

And the cookies? They were a type of drop sugar cookies, with pink, pale blue, and white sprinkles both in the dough and sprinkled on top. They were quite large--13cm in diameter--and the edges were delightfully crispy while the centers were deliciously soft.

I really like to patronize local businesses, especially small businesses, and I'm really impressed by what I saw today. Not only were the items I purchased both delicious and of the highest quality, the people working in the shop were friendly and welcoming, even though it was a busy morning. I'm definitely glad I discovered this great shop and look forward to many more...

We have always been thrilled with our purchases from Black Market Provisions. The Ruffles squares and Pop Cart popsicles are our absolute favourites. The selection of tasty treats and cute gift items is great, and we've never left without buying more than we came for. Recently, we have had to use their online order and curbside pickup option. Their ordering system is very clear, and we had no issues placing and picking up our order. I'm impressed with the way that they've solicited feedback over social media to create a model that works for their customers. It's obvious that they take pride in their business, and care about what the customers want....

Cute shop that provides many vegan items. I was hoping to see some "faux mage", but didn't notice any.

Purchased a baked good to try. I wanted to try the ice cream but wasn't hungry enough at the moment. Hope to go back when I am. The flavors were interesting with hibiscus 🍋 lemon as one and blueberry lavender for another. The malt ice cream with Oreo sounded good too.

Pricing isn't cheap here, but I am assuming you are getting a quality ingredient. Didn't really speak with the cashier so didn't find out much about the store aside from what we...
