TL;DR Not fancy or super authentic, but reliable, respectful about dietary restrictions and a few really great noodle dishes enough to be my go-to Chinese restaurant for noodles). I only highly recommend if you like noodles. Favorite Dish: Shanghai Style Chow Mein w/Pork (Spicy)
Jade INN isn't super fancy and they use a very Americanized Chinese food menu for the most part. They certainly don't have the most authentic flavour profiles in town and some dishes can be a bit greasy. While the quality of ingredients is generally there, much of the menu is very basic.
All of that said, I order more from here than any other Chinese Restaurant because they have two really great noodle dishes; Shanghai Style Chow Mein and Cantonese Style Chow Mein. As it so happens, I'm a man who loves noodle dishes
As someone who absolutely hates onions, It's hard to find a Chinese restaurant that will make my food without onions. These guys are pretty good about it. That care in the preparation of my food is greatly appreciated. Additionally, despite having several dishes containing pineapple (I'm severely allergic), I have never had an allergic reaction from cross contamination. Once again that speaks to the care in preparation and the character of the ownership.
Shanghai Style Chow Mein (I like it with pork) is my favorite Chinese food dish so I almost always choose restaurants based on whether they have a decent one. Jade INN's isn't the most authentic version I've ever had, but it is well flavoured, the flavour profile is in the direction a Shanghai Style Chow Mein should be, and it's wonderfully spicy. I'm pretty sure they drizzle with chili oil or something, but whatever it is, I love it. While there are places that make a better version of this dish in town, none that are consistently reliable about making it without onions unless I'm physically at a table in person.
The Cantonese Chow Mein (I like it with chicken) also may not be the most authentic, but it does have a very mild and pleasant, if gentle, bordering on bland flavour to the sauce. It's a refreshing and delightful counter-balance to the incredibly spicy bite from the Shanghai Style Chow Mein.
Finish that off with some very tasty, if slightly overdone egg rolls and spring rolls, and you've got yourself my go-to...
Read moreWe ordered from Jade Inn for the first time and we really wanted to like it but we ended up being very disappointed. We had two combination dinners, an order of breaded ribs, deep fried wonton and an order of crispy wings. The crispy Wings had so much dough as the breading , it was absolutely terrible and overcooked we ended up throwing half out see picture. The breaded ribs were very good tasting but there was very little meat on them it was like bone and breading. The combination plate with veal and chicken balls was okay but the chicken balls again heavy heavy breading, yuck. The other combination plate with chicken balls and shrimp again was okay, the shrimp were good but only received 2 1/2 shrimps a total rip off. The fried wonton was overdone as seen in the picture. The fried rice tasted just like soy sauce was added to white rice and a little bit of onion no veggies or nothing in the fried rice, plain and bland and not fried. Egg rolls were okay just like the frozen ones you would get at the store. The gentleman who served me when I picked it up was very pleasant he appeared to be the cook and maybe the owner, was not sure. We won't order from this place again...
Read moreOMG!!!! They use chicken Deli meat in the fried rice!!!!! I called to ask why my fried rice was so gross & what kind of meat that was he said “Chicken Deli” , my Shrimp stunk up my apartment before I even opened the container. They are using bad meat! Do not order from here. I regret not checking reviews first!!!! When I told him that it’s not normal to use Deli meat in fried rice & that I had read the reviews & that I know he’s been told this before, he told me that to order from somewhere else & hung up on me. I will be filing a formal complaint.
EDIT : THIS WAS AN UBER EATS ORDER & they only refunded me $6.10 & are not Taking the the fact the shrimp was SPOILED into consideration. This is a food safety hazard!!
Edit: After filing a formal complaint with the health inspectors due to obvious cross contamination with photos that showed other bits of food not part of my order in one of my containers Uber eventually refunded me 90%...
