This used to be our favourite Leopold in the city. We would go there at least once a month for beers or wings or their weekly poutineās. My husband loved the club sandwich. But the last three times Iāve been there, we have waited over 20 minutes to have a server come by and say hello and take a drink order and donāt even get me started on the food length. It seems like the crowd in there has changed and is very rough. The employees seem to talk to regulars over customers, and last time I was there I saw customers dancing on tables and the bar⦠I mean, I love a good time but seriously? The last time we were there, it was a Saturday night around 12:30am and when we came in it was half full so we sat down. The bartender was talking to a group of customers for 15 minutes, walked by us and said āhey Iāll be right thereā then went to the bar and brought drinks out for other customers and talked to them for about 10 minutes. When he came back to our table, he said sorry I had to take care of some stuff. I wanted to laugh because I could see him talking to the customers right next to us and I felt like he thought we were just stupid. The drinks took another 20 minutes And then the food took about 45 minutes. When the food came, I ordered a beer and he never brought it out. When I asked for the bill, he said oh yeah I forgot to tell you the keg was out. The people beside us were also complaining, they said that they used to come here all the time and the service has gone downhill and I said I totally agree The time before that we sat at a table that was completely covered in dishes, but it was really full so we wanted to snag a seat and we waited over 30 minutes not one person came to us, no one cleared our tables and we just walked out. That was not the first time that we waited and waited without any service and just walked out to go to another place. The staff just does not care anymore and seems very green. The bartender was very friendly, greeting us immediately and getting us a table. That was basically the only good service we had. Our server, named Melissa was very unfriendly. We were waiting for a few more people and had been looking at the menu and we were very intrigued with the idea of a monthly breakfast feature. When she finally came to takeout order, it wasnāt even mentioned, we had to ask what it was. Looking back, this should have been a sign of our serverās attitude. LAZY. We got our food and 2 of us had the wrong side dishes. Had a check back been done this would have been fixed promptly. I had to wave the bartender over who said heād take care of it. 15 minutes later not taken care of and Melissa finally stopped by. So we tell her again and there is no apology. She just says āWell you can keep them and obviously Iām not charging youā. My friend then explains that she wants the regular hash browns though. Then Melissa asks me if Iād like another Caesar. Meanwhile I had ordered a Diet Coke 15 minutes earlier. No refills on pop or coffee were offered in the 2 hours we were there and then the icing on the cake was needed service and then seeing our server sitting at the end of the bar sipping on a beer while she visited with a friend. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I was tempted to call my liqueur inspector friend on the spot, lol. She had several beer breaks while we were there not getting service. Finally bills came and Melissa took my friendās bill back to adding a poutine that we never received. If she was a little more aware of her table and did a check back she would have noticed that. Sidenote- Was told there is not a gluten free version. Buffalo cauliflower wings were soggy, just tasted like hot chewy batter. They were splattered with blue cheese despite requesting only ranch dip on the side. (Strong dislike for the unwelcome pre dipped blue cheese). The waitress who took my order (had to call several times as no one was answering) was unfriendly and kept complaining she couldn't hear me because it was too noisy with extremely loud music there. Other info- specials ONLY available if you dine in. Was not permitted any other cauliflower wing sauce aside from buffalo and don't count on the social media reps to be helpful or answer questions clearly. Definite room for improvement.
just adding to my review as I don't see a way to respond to the owner's reply. I'm sorry the person who took my phone call did not know that there were gluten-free options she told me no there were not. I'm sorry she didn't know that I was permitted to choose other flavours she clearly told me no I could not, only buffalo flavor. Also sorry that you misread my correspondence you definitely did not answer all my questions when I was asking if I needed to call in to order or if I could do so by message I was told to have a good day & was brushed off. The information you have provided in your reply is incorrect & goes to show how much you care. Regardless of what your menu says your staff should be familiar and customers should be treated with respect. Officially cannot recommend this place as I said there is room for improvement.
As for the loudness there when you have someone taking orders that has been mentioned in repeated reviews here and it has nothing to do with how busy the place is. It is how loud the music is so people have to scream if they want to talk. Seems to me that is recurrent feedback but if you do not want to take any of it constructively that's up to you.
