Edit:

Was able to finally bring my wife here for dinner, place was almost fully reserved but luckily got a table for 2. There was a big group and since the place was small they came across as too loud. Ordered mango salad but unfortunately the mango was already almost ripe and not crunchy maybe should have opted for the papaya salad instead. Tom Kha Gai was just ok, the taste is definitely westernized and not authentic as claimed, could not really taste the galanggal or lemon grass and the coconut milk seem to be lacking. The Plad pad kra pao was good, enjoyed that very much though no holy basil flavor was coming through…..

I felt disappointed but maybe because my expectation was set high and perhaps it was just a bad day in the kitchen but I live on the opposite side of the city and I dont see myself driving 30mins for this.

Previous review:

Dropped by for lunch with a colleague because it was near a site we inspected and was pleasantly surprised, Immediately upon entering we were warmly greeted and made to feel at home. the interior is simple, cozy and relaxing, the food is authentic Thai and my first few mouthfuls of the Pad Thai with their homemade chili garlic was very satisfying. Will definitely comeback with my wife and try...

I have had the pleasure of dining at Sassy Thai twice in the past few days with family. Once for dinner (party of 5) and once for lunch (party of 8), It provides a comfortable setting that allowed us to chat without any hearing issues. The owners are a wonderful couple and provide excellent service and information on the menu and options available. We ordered the Panang with Chicken and would class it as the best we have had. Our second dish was Lad Na with Crispy Noodles and Chicken. It is a beautiful dish with wonderful aroma and incredible taste. The vegetables were prepared to perfection still having a fresh and crisp bite. The chicken is also done perfectly in both dishes. I would recommend Sassy Thai to anyone interested in Thai food, Mom&Pop restaurants and trying new flavours. For eat in I suggest a reservation! We were happy to see a steady stream of take out pickups as well. We will be returning soon despite this gem being on the other side of...

Edit: My husband and I both thought to give this restaurant another try as it has a very high google rating. We ordered Meekrob with chicken (see pic) and pad kee mao with chicken. Meekrob was very dry and didn’t have much ingredients in it. Tofu was hard. Noodles were very dry and I felt like I was eating dry cereal. Pad kee Mao was bland. No taste in the chicken. It said it is spicy on the menu but I just didn’t taste any spice at all. Very oily. Extremely disappointed with the food.

No comment on the service or atmosphere as we ordered take out.

At least someone picked up the phone this time when we called.

We will not come back.

We were trying to place a pickup order via phone. The phone call went straight to voicemail. We have tried for almost 30 mins to get through the phone. Very disappointed. We ended up going somewhere as no one pick up their phone. It is more reasonable if someone able to pick up the phone and say “can you hold...

I struggled with writing this post, because this is obviously a locally-owned establishment and in this economy, I try not to criticize locals. BUT being that this place is 4.9 / 5, I feel a sense of duty to provide an honest review. The Mee Krob is dry and eats like a bowl of dry cereal. It contained random, hard (dry) bits of tofu, along with some scarce chicken, even though I ordered it with chicken. The Pad Kee Mao is bland and not at all spicy like the menu suggests. I’ve had much better stir fries at food courts. The crab Rangoon was just ok, yet it cost $14 for 7 pieces. In total, our dinner amounted to $50 after tax. And we are both still hungry - or at least not fully satisfied. Save yourself $10 and go to either Kyu Bochi or Magic Thailand.
