After waiting at the “Please wait to be seated sign” for at least 5 minutes we were invited inside, laughed at, and told that if we should have come in if we wanted to have been seated. The waitress who was rude on our way in seemed like serving us was a burden; rather than asking how we were, what we’d like to eat, etc. she just stared at us wordlessly until I asked for a Caesar salad. My salad was acceptable but my friend’s seafood lasagna was covered in one large chunk of seemingly-microwaved cheese and was unbearably salty. He wasn’t even able to finish it.

Stopped for lunch and it was the place we ate whilst in the gros morne area. The mussels, seafood lasagna (misleadingly named as we couldn’t find any noodles in it?), and fish cakes are all great. Even the bread is impressive! We were here on a hot day and it was very warm and stuffy inside, thankfully there is a deck with a beautiful view if you get the chance to sit out there.

This was some of the best food we had in Canada after a month-long trip across the country. The seafood was fresh and perfectly seasoned, and the upstairs dining room was adorable. The service was lacking and slow, though, as the servers seemed overwhelmed and lacking in customer service skills. I'd still go back, but I'd be ready for slow service.

I do not recommend this restaurant due to the VERY RUDE waitress we had serving us. This was my first time in NFLD, visiting with my husband and in laws. My grandfather is from NFLD and always dreamed of the day I would make it here. We came with a group doing tours and ended up at this restaurant for dinner today. I will mention, we are visible minorities. So far here on the island we didn't experience any discrimination. The waitress we had serving us was VERY rude to us. My mother in law was surprised at the size of her halibut dinner and to clarify she asked if it was always this size or do they also offer fillets (meaning the smaller, thin size that you would normally expect from a restaurant). The waitress responded by saying "it is a fillet..it's a steak but fillet....what does she want, a full long piece?" And we said "its fine, it's just not what she expected". She said "yeah well we don't serve that here." We ordered Caesar salad with no bacon and it came with bacon. This was not the waitresses fault, because I saw her write down no bacon, however when she returned with our replacement there was no apology or acknowledgement. Then...and this is where it really struck us...we asked for the bill because we had to get going to meet our bus. While she went to get the bill, my husband's sister mentioned she had wanted dessert but didn't see a menu. When the waitress came to give us the bill he asked her if they have a dessert menu. She said "yes." He said "can we see it please?" And she said - in an extremely rude tone - "well why did you ask for the bill then if you still want dessert?!" Grabbed the bill back from me and stormed off. We were all stunned. She came back and handed it to us, and then pointed to the plates at the other end of our table and said "can you pass me those plates" ...and then asked if we would take our dessert to go. I found this treatment to be the worst I have experienced. Never have I been spoken to in such a disrespectful way by a waitress before...I am...

My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant after hiking. We were very disappointed with the service and food quality. After we ordered the food, we waited for 45 minutes but there was no food served. We were super tired and hungry, so we checked with the waitress if the food is coming or not. They replied without any apologies and just explained that because there was a big group.

Our food finally came 50 minutes after we ordered. We ordered mussels, chowder, cod and seafood lasagna. We tasted nothing other than the saltiness. We didn’t expect this taste! The cod fish tasted worse than the frozen food from the grocery store! Everything was not under our expectation. However, we were still acting politely and saying thank you to the waitress. After we finished all the food on the table, there was no one coming to collect any dishes or asking us if we needed anything else. We tried to draw the waitress attention a few times for getting the bill, but they ignored us and went to serve the guests at other tables.

Lastly, we stood up and approached the counter. The waitress saw us but ignored us again until we asked for the bill. This was the most terrible experience I have ever had! Go to this restaurant if you want to have an unhappy dining experience! I’d rather eat cup noddles than visit...

After hearing lots of positive things about this restaurant I must say I was very disappointed by the service. Me and my friend walked into the restaurant and were told to sit towards the front of back of the restaurant, after choosing a booth we were rudely told by the waitress that "that booth was meant for 5 people" not a party of 2. We apologized and moved to a smaller booth (even though the restaurant was completely empty at the time). We were two young women who were then immediately shocked by how rude the tone of the waitress serving us was. We were very polite but treated as if we were a burden. After ordering chicken and salad the waitress loudly signed in disgust at our order before walking away. Later on more guests showed up and we watched a couple (2 people) sit in the table we had originally been kicked out of with no hesitation from wait staff. The same waitress was friendly and polite to all other guests but was very rude and hostile towards me and my friend. The food was fantastic, the ladies in the gift shop downstairs were wonderful, however, due to the rudeness of the waitress that served us, I have to give this restaurant...
