If there is a place that might capture the heart and soul of Grand Cayman, it might be Heritage Kitchen. Sitting seaside in Old West Bay, is a colorful eatery dishing up an authentic experience not to be found among the touristy hotspots, or commercialized operations elsewhere. Outdoor dining leaves you facing the saltwater goodness, picnic tables painted in blues, pinks and greens, hint of a playfulness that is the island. Heritage Kitchen is a welcomed throwback amongst the modernity. The food delivers on this experience, its fresh, thoughtfully spiced and seasoned, delivering a food culture to you, that you only thought you might have known. As a traveler, I want to taste the culture, as well as feel it, here you can do both. Flavors are simple, but has the acquired depth of time, of recipes passed down, food that feeds the soul. Heritage delivers on that promise, and then some. The menu is mostly fish, but that is apropos given island life. Fresh catch from the sea, from fisherman that labored in the sun, the simple bounty of nourishment. If you're visiting island, it is a must. If you reside in Cayman, this feels like home. Dont rush through this experience, bathe in it, this is...

I stumbled upon Heritage Restaurant, a quaint little spot nestled next to the ocean, and I'm so glad I did! This small, unassuming eatery packs a big punch when it comes to flavor, service, and scenery.
The view of the ocean is simply stunning, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a meal while taking in the sights and sounds of the sea. The staff, comprised of friendly and attentive young women, added to the warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Although they don't serve beer, the adjacent liquor shop has got you covered. But trust me, the food is the real star of the show. I ordered the fried snapper, and it was nothing short of excellent - crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and full of flavor.
Heritage Restaurant may be small, but it's a must-visit for anyone seeking a delicious meal with a side of ocean views. Don't miss out on this hidden gem!
Pros:
• Scenic ocean views • Friendly and attentive staff • Delicious food (fried snapper was a highlight!) • Conveniently located next to a liquor shop
Cons: None!
I highly recommend Heritage Restaurant for a wonderful dining experience...
Read moreWent to this spot for dinner last night after reading all the amazing reviews. Sadly it was extremely disappointing. The Restaraunt closes at 8 and we were there for 7:30 pm after calling in advance to see if we will get served. The server was extremely reluctant to serve us ( almost like she was doing us a favour). The service could have been ignored if the food was amazing which sadly it wasn’t. Our conch fritters were definitely fried in stale oil and came out burnt. The cayman style grouper was average with no flavour at all. The cayman style lobster was overcooked and the lobster meat extremely chewy, the sauce had no flavour ( just onions tomatoes and garlic sautéed up quickly with no seasoning). The rice and peas were overcooked and mushy. Unfortunately a bad experience for our first night on the island, I would not recommend this place at all. Spend your money instead at the Bonny moon beach club which has excellent food and service on...
