Caleta Portales Restaurant it an extremely amazingly surprise, a good one, for everyone who's enjoying a genuine local chilian food. If you are looking for the best experience in this area, do not hesitate a bit to choose this place for your lunch or dinner. The atmosphere is very cozy, special and particularly dedicated to fisherman's design. Everything is matching perfectly in details, as well an spectacular view from above. The personal is very warm and kind with its clients, absolutely nothing to complain about anything regarding the service. Fast and demanding for everyone and everything, at least this was my perspective during my visit there.
The fact that almost all the tables were busy during the meal time, means the success of it.
Dishes extremely fresh and very tasty, obviously because the location just nearby fish market and this makes the things easier for the management of the staff.
The balance between quality and money is unbeatable. Highly recommended for exquisite...
Read moreI don’t know why people give this place good reviews, maybe the food was better years ago. We had locos en salsa al gusto and sopa marinera (their version of paila marina) the locos were not freshly prepared as we have had at many other restaurants where they were flavorful and tender, this were dry and chewier and some were even yellowing at the edges, not very enjoyable, the soup was nothing special, it was a pretty basic tomato based broth with too much salt, it seems like those soup bases that some restaurants have ready made and can be used for any other soup, definitely not a good fresh chilean paila marina as you find in some fresh seafood markets. I guess people rate this place high because of the decor and the views which makes it look fancy (if you ignore the aging decor asking for a good clean up and the crumbly look of the façade) I would not be going back or recommending this...
Read moreI am disappointed that this restaurant didn't live up to the expectations. We ordered a few items from the menu and 50% didn't taste the best. Prices are extremely high for the quality of food. We ordered some mussels and they were horrible. The mussels that I buy frozen in the USA tastes better than what I was offered here. I mentioned it to them but nothing was offered to remediate the bad quality, they only said that was overcooked. I think that the mussels were not fresh but actually frozen or from a can. The French fries were soggy and oily. Fresh fries always tell me the quality of the food because it is simple to cook but it needs to follow the perfect temperature on the oil. The cold mariscal was ok. I will not be returning to that place next time I...
