🇱🇰 Sri Lanka is one South Asian country that I’ve not been to before, therefore I do not have any experience in being able to ascertain the authenticity of Sri Lankan dishes served in 🇭🇰Hong Kong.. Fortunately, during one of my eating adventures in Chungking Mansions, I chanced upon a group of Sri Lankans living in 🇭🇰; and naturally I asked for a recommendation of where would one go for genuine, true blue Sri Lankan cuisine in the +852… 🍽️

⛴️ Their answer surprised me! The only eatery in the city proclaiming Sri Lankan cuisine that I knew of was Hotal Colombo in Soho - which I’ve tried and they’re pretty good based on my non-experienced opinion.. I also knew of Machan in Jordan, which the group mentioned in passing as a tiny shop that’s just decent/ average.. No, the surprise was that according to Sri Lankans living in 🇭🇰, the BEST SRI LANKAN cuisine eatery was on LAMMA Island!.. 😲

🥘 So naturally I had to check out The Waterfront in Yung Shue Wan.. While I was unable to order the more well known Sri Lankan dishes (it was a quiet Tuesday lunch session after all) of Kukul Mas Chicken Curry and Lamb Kothu; I did manage to get the 🫛Parippu Lentil Curry and suitable substitutes of 🐑Elu Mas Lamb Curry and 🐖Devil Pork.. The food was unique and absolutely amazing, another favourite eatery to add to my list.. And I’ve come to discover what makes Sri Lankan curries distinctively different from 🇮🇳Indian curries - the use of Coconut Oil & Creams instead of Ghee or Butter; and a generous use of Curry Leaves as aromatics… I am definitely going back again soon for the Kothu and Kukul Mas, will I see...

Good food but poor service. Never have I ever had to wait for food to arrive for OVER 1 HOUR. The most ridiculous delay of service ever.

We came on a public holiday, we were the 3rd set of customers sitting down. Ordered a child’s meal, starter & main for the adults; and some drinks.

-Drinks took more than 20mins to be served (while there were only 3 tables of customers in the beginning) They were just iced tea & mango lassi , we were only informed of the unavailability of mangoes after waiting for 20mins.

-the ‘starter’ and the main course only got served after 1hours & 30mins of waiting. The floor staff had zero awareness of the delay of food delivery

-we politely asked when will our starter get served after waiting for a considerable amount of time-at least 45mins. (after our child already FINISHED her pizza from kids meal), the response we received from the staff was : “please wait, food takes time to get prepared”

Food finally came after more than 1 hour of wait, they were delicious. However, the service delivery was really off-putting and we will not return again because time is precious to us and shall not be wasted in such manner on a public holiday, regardless of the apology we received at last.

There was definitely a lack of manpower and professionalism in...

I recently visited The Waterfront Restaurant & Bar , and it was an absolute delight! The restaurant's modern decor and inviting atmosphere set the perfect tone for a memorable dining experience. The menu offers a wide range of traditional Sri Lankan dishes, from mouth-watering curries to flavorful fish dishes. The standout for me was the spicy seafood and Sri Lankan beef , both of which were cooked to perfection.

The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. The variety of vegetarian dishes was a pleasant surprise, catering to all dietary preferences. The drinks selection, featuring local and international wines, beers, cocktails, and spirits, complemented the meal perfectly.

Overall, The Waterfront Restaurant & Bar is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan cuisine in a stylish and welcoming setting. Whether you're dining with friends or family, this restaurant promises a fantastic time with its delicious food, great drinks, and warm...

I visited Waterfront in Lamma Island just for lunch, and it turned out to be such a great choice! True to its name, the restaurant is right by the water, offering beautiful views and a relaxing atmosphere.the food did not disappoint — everything was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The combination of delicious food and the stunning waterfront view made the experience even more enjoyable. It’s the perfect spot for a laid-back lunch with a scenic vibe. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re ever in Lamma!

The Waterfront is a great little scenic spot to grab a drink and watch the sunset on Lamma Island. Dont expect too much decor wise, rather rely on the view. Have only eaten breakfast there once which to be honest was a bit of a disaster, but I think all places are entitled to a bad day. The waiter that evening (when I went for sundowners)was polite and service was good although I didnt eat. Like I say, great for sundowners. They have an extensive menu which may be worth a shot.
