Contrast is a modern cafe and coffee shop along Fuk Wing Street in Cheung Sha Wan. They have a nicely decorated place, particularly festive during the holiday season, with a fair sized indoor seating area. You can do take-away and delivery as well if preferred. Opening hours are 9am to 6.30pm daily.
They offer a fairly typical cafe-coffee shop menu of pastas, salads, open faced sandwiches, desserts as well as a range of coffee and non-coffee drinks. I took break here recently and tried their Orange Black coffee. This is a not so easy to find coffee drink made up of a concoction of orange juice and espresso (no tonic water at Contrast) that tasted ok. The orange juice was sweet but had no tart, the espresso was fine. Mixed together, it was decent but probably would have benefited from a bit of tonic water to help polish off the drink.
Overall, Contrast is neat place with an inviting atmosphere. Will give them another go around at some point in the future but will probably stick with traditional coffee...
Read moreIt is a very unique cafe by Hong Kong standard and in this area of Cheung Sha Wan. The owner collaborated with NGOs and developed a theme for the cafe with special decorations as well as community events. During the period I visited (February 2025), it worked with a charity promoting parent development to add the theme of "empathy" to the cafe that echos the motto of the cafe of "harmony but contrast". The decorations are very interesting, depicting the fighting of a parent dinosaur and its kid. This social purpose contributed to the special ambiance in the eatery that draws patrons from different age groups.
Let us not forget the coffee and food too. They have a special "empathy" drink that you should try. The waffles are exquisite and mouth watering.
Well worth an excursion for visitors together with the many others in the Sham Shui Po are. But be warned, at weekends, the place could be crowded, and patrons may have to exercise empathy to help...
Read moreI recently visited CONTRAST and had an absolutely delightful experience. From the moment I walked in, the cozy ambiance and friendly staff made me feel right at home. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, and I knew I was in for a treat.
I ordered their signature Charcoal latte, and it was hands down the best coffee I've had in a long time. The barista clearly knew what they were doing, as every sip was a burst of rich and smooth flavors.
The pastries were also a highlight. Freshly baked and perfectly flaky, they paired excellently with my coffee. The attention to detail in both the food and service truly sets this cafe apart.
Overall, I highly recommend CONTRAST to anyone looking for a cozy spot to enjoy great coffee and pastries. I can't wait to...
