I recently dined at JEP by Involtini, a restaurant located in Tuen Mun. My companion and I opted for the set lunch, and we were both thoroughly impressed with our dining experience.
The set lunch included a delightful array of dishes, starting with the appetizer. We chose the ham platter, which was a perfect way to kick off the meal. The variety of ham offered a delightful combination of flavors.
For the main course, we ordered two different dishes. The first was the homemade rigatoni with clam jus, uroko-yaki market fish, and seaweed butter. Despite the chef's explanation that the fish scales didn't turn out as desired due to the size of the fish, the dish still impressed us. The fish was tender, flavorful, and had a delightful crispy skin. The fish itself was firm and had a fresh and sweet taste.
The second main course was the korayaki risotto with crabmeat. This dish was a standout. The flavors of the crabmeat were prominent, thanks to the searing process. The dish had a rich and intense taste, and the addition of the raw quail egg enhanced the overall creamy and smooth texture. If there was one minor improvement, it would be to reduce the sauce slightly to achieve a more velvety consistency, similar to cream.
For dessert, we were presented with a beautifully crafted floral-shaped ice cream. It was a delightful treat to end our meal. As for the beverage, we chose the refreshing Lemonade, which paired perfectly with the flavors of the dishes.
One aspect of our dining experience that cannot go unnoticed is the exceptional service. From the moment we arrived, a friendly waitress greeted us with a warm smile. She promptly attended to our needs and accommodated our requests with efficiency. Despite being a new member of the team, another staff member displayed great attentiveness and politeness. It was evident that the chef took pride in his creations and was open to feedback, which we truly appreciated.
Overall, JEP by Involtini provided an outstanding dining experience. The set lunch offered a well-balanced selection of dishes, and each course was executed with precision. The restaurant's warm and attentive service further enhanced our enjoyment. I highly recommend JEP by Involtini for anyone looking to indulge in a memorable dining experience...
Read moreWhat’s the deal with JEP by Involtini? It’s the sister restaurant of the Michelin-recommended Involtini, known for their freshly made, daily hand-crafted pasta. 🍝 The kitchen is run by a chef who trained at a Michelin 3-star restaurant, so you know the food’s going to be serious. And the best part? Their lunch set is just $158 for three courses and a drink—not bad at all for food of this quality!
🥣🥗 Soup and Starter The first course started with the soup of the day: tomato soup. Made from fresh tomatoes, it’s hearty and flavorful without that artificial taste you get from canned versions 🍅
For the starter, we had a ham salad, and this was no ordinary salad. It came with 3 kinds of ham — Parma Ham, Mortadella, and Salami. On top of that, there was homemade black truffle butter paired with sourdough and molasses bread. The combination was rich, aromatic, and just the right way to kick things off 🥖
🦐 Handmade Tagliolini, Carabineros Red Prawn, Red Prawn Sauce (+$140) This dish is a standout for seafood lovers 🤩 The handmade spaghetti is cooked perfectly, with just the right texture to catch the sauce. But the highlight? The Spanish red prawns. You get two plump prawns that are full of flavor, and the sauce is bold, and the pasta absorbs all the flavors beautifully. If you love seafood, this dish is a no-brainer 🤤
🦀 Korayaki Risotto, Crabmeat (+$120) Risotto can be tricky to get right, but they absolutely nailed it here. The rice is cooked to just the right consistency — firm, but not undercooked 🍚 The dish is infused with the deep umami of crab roe, which you mix with a raw quail egg to give it a creamy texture. It’s topped with grilled crab roe, shredded crab meat, and roe pearls, so every bite is packed with flavor. It’s satisfying without being heavy 😋
🍓🥭 Daily Dessert Dessert was a handmade popsicle made from fresh strawberries and mangoes. Slightly tangy and naturally sweet, it was refreshing and the perfect way to round off the meal. Simple, fresh, and oh-so-satisfying.
JEP by Involtini is just a short walk from the Tuen Mun Light Rail Kin Sang Station, so it’s easy to find. If you’re ever in Tuen Mun, this is a spot you’ve got to check out. The food’s high-quality, the flavors are memorable, and it’s well...
Read moreA nice cozy restaurant only serves limited seats with quality Italian food located in the far west of Hong Kong. The service was really tremendously attentive from reservation to receiving and to the overall concierge at the restaurant. The food are all well cooked and taste great, the only thing is the thickness of the pasta which is quite thick, from ravioli to fettuccine. However, the presto sauce was very freshing made with good layers of taste and the mozzarella on top is cherry on top. The DIY tiramisu is a great play and eat, the only thing is the ladyfingers soaked up the Expresso so quickly and it become soggy and have to be mindful when playing around with ut. The mascarpone is light in texture and well sweetened which was really scrumptious. Reservation must and only one minute walk from a light rail station. If you happen to be around this far end, worth...
