I was thinking that maybe I did something wrong and my visit to Gringo American Kitchen in Unicentro Mall was my punishment. Really, that’s how bad it was for me. I visited on a Thursday evening and there were very few customers in the restaurant. I just wanted something simple to take back to my hotel. I can’t imagine anything more simple than a green salad and an order of french fries to go. The waitress was timid but mildly friendly enough. Forty five minutes later I still did not have my order. I could have gone to the supermarket and bought the lettuce and tomatoes and then made the salad myself in half the time. All I had were embarrassed faces from the waitress and a manager type individual who wanted me to feel like, though they were sorry that it was taking so long, I should just be patient. This place probably has clearly very little, if any, flair for customer satisfaction. It is my suspicion a lack of any real training is a the reason that this restaurant is going nowhere fast. I thought so, until I got back to my room and opened the food. Half of the lettuce was already spoiled and inedible. The fries looked and tasted like pure fat. To add insult to the experience, the bag did not contain a fork, napkins or ketchup. The little bit I tried to eat I had to eat with my hands. I ended up having to throw out more than half of the food. A waste of money and food. This place should close down and try to completely restructure itself. I have absolutely nothing good to say about my experience at Gringo American Kitchen. I felt sorry for the undertrained waitress who did seem very nervous about the situation, but it appeared that there was little she could do other than try to avoid looking at my disappointment. The manager, if that’s who she was, stood out as as unhelpful as possible. I don’t know if my experience was oddly different or unusual from other people, but the place was pretty empty so perhaps poor quality and customer care are the norm. If you have had good meals there, I am surprised to hear it, but feel quite lucky if you have. My advice is to stay away until they decide to get serious about how to be a better restaurant....
Read moreDesigned to be like a bar with tvs and not very family oriented. Menu available via QR as I was told prices are incorrect on the one menu available. Nit actually own by a Gringo. It’s just a name. My 6 yo enjoyed their kid hot dog (pictured). Fries are additional charge. My kids (all 3) do enjoy the French fries. They are seasoned skinny fries. A little on the pricey side for a mini hot dog but it is inside the mall and I assume rent there is not cheap. They were out of Chicken tenders which is why we tried their food. Based on the kid hotdogs and french fries in conjunction with the price I do...
