Hacienda Kitchen — Restaurant in La Asunción

Worst experience in Costa Rica thus far. My colleagues had the ceviche and it tasted better poolside AND the portion size was twice as big. My other colleague had the octopus and it was soggy. I had the “fresh” fish and it was bad- super fishy for a light fish with no flavor and was cooked horribly. Even the cocktails left a lot to be desired. My colleague ordered a different cocktails because his tasted like saltwater and they never returned with one.

I just landed and looked up a top rated breakfast and went here. I was told I’d have to wait which is fine. But then I watched everyone behind me in line (big parties and small) be seated over the course of time. The hostess could see me waiting, I wasn’t hidden. No one else was waiting but there were more vacant seats and she still wasn’t seating me. I’m not sure if it’s because I said I wasn’t staying at the hotel but it felt really rude and strange to me. My team of coworkers wanted to celebrate the accomplishments of the month with a good lunch. A friend at work mentioned the 8,000 colones price for a small lunch buffet at La Hacienda, and it seemed too good to be true, but it was... so we all went there and had a great meal. We had tacos and italian style chicken, salads, deserts, drinks, and even a great cappuccino to finish a nice lunch. We had a great time and a very nice meal.
