Dear Mr. Gulati, We have eaten multiple times at many of your Taj Mahal & Naans & Curries restaurants in Costa Rica including but not limited to Tamarindo, Escazu, Lindora, Alajuela, Heredia and Cariari. The food, service and ambiance has always been top notch. Thank you for providing such a high quality product to the public. As an American of Indian descent, I have introduced your cuisine to many of my American and Vista Rican friends and associates and they have amazed and impressed by the taste and flavors. On Father’s Day, June 15, 2025, my girlfriend decided to take me and my friend, also a father, to your Oxígeno location for dinner. We were not aware that there was a buffet available but were informed by the manager that we should try it at 11,700 colones per person with drinks being extra. We ordered three non-alcoholic mango mint drinks and the buffet. The food was absolutely delicious! She paid with her credit card and after we got to our hotel she informed me that the charge was $124.69 USD! That doesn’t add up! When I called the establishment the next day, I was told that it was because the dollar was down and the Colon was up! It still doesn’t make sense. In the US, we go to Indian restaurant buffets most weekends and the cost is $20-$25 a person so we are very familiar with the process. We travel from Florida to Costa Rica every couple of months and will continue to patronize your establishments but thought that you should be aware of this misstep. My apologies for the...
Read moreI live in California in the United States, where good Indian food is plentiful, plus I once lived for a year in the Punjab region of Pakistan, and yet I want to share that the most amazing and authentic Indian food I have ever tasted is available in a shopping mall in Heredia, Costa Rica of all places. Taj Mahal's food is INCREDIBLE! For appetizers/starters, I had the Samosas and Fig Kabab, and my main course was the Malai Kofta, extra spicy and with a side of naan. The naan was as thick, warm, and soft as paratha, and the sauces were among the best I have ever tasted. I followed it with some Kulfi, which was as refreshing as it was delicious. I learned that the family who runs Taj Mahal is from India, and they have many years of experience as chefs, which is not surprising if you have the good fortune to taste their food. I also want to add that the service at Taj Mahal is every bit as great as the food, with friendly, courteous, solicitous staff. If you are hesitant (as I was) to waste your valuable time in Costa Rica visiting a shopping mall, or if you worry (as I did) that Costa Rica's take on Indian food could not possibly meet your high standards for authenticity, I am here to tell you that I have never regretted a meal less than the wonderful dinner I enjoyed...
Read moreFANTASTIC VEGETARIAN OPTIONS!
Being a vegetarian in CR it can be hard to find good restaurants/cafes and even harder to find great ones but if you like Indian food then this place is one of the great ones!
The food was delicious and the potion sizes were greats d the price is very good too! I opted for the ‘Assorted Vegetarian Platter’ which was 9900 CRC (about AUD$20 or USD$16) and I couldn’t finish it as it’s definitely made for 2 people!
I also had a cappuccino with coconut milk which is almost impossible to find here in Heredia!
The staff are super friendly and very polite and I ended up having a nice chat with one of them.
I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely...
