Sushi Kampai — Restaurant in San Ramón

I was driving through town one night looking for a quick bite to eat. I think I'm happy to have found this place. I only ordered a simple fish roll, but I was mostly pleased with it.

One thing I was unhappy with was that the ginger came in a little plastic package, much like the soy sauce. I didn't even bother opening it.

I can't say much about the atmosphere as I went in shortly before closing. It was very quiet with a couple of younger folks (maybe college aged) at the sushi counter, and not much else.

I recognized the chef there as being formally from a different sushi place in town. I enjoyed his chefing before, and I think he did a good job this time.

I will definitely be trying this place again, only with a little more time...

I ordered 3 rolls and a mint lemonade and was underwhelmed. The quantity of food was very generous, I had more than enough despite a big appetite. But the seafood was hardly noticeable flavor-wise because of the overuse of the other ingredients. All 3 had too much rice which was oddly sweet, the scallion in the fire roll was so pungent as to be the only thing I tasted and the spicy tuna roll had so much straight Sriracha sauce on it as to overwhelm the flavor of the whole roll. Fuimos a probar el shushi, pero la experiencia no fue buena, llegamos y no había más clientes y cuando entramos fue como que pereza, pedimos 1 rollo de sushi para ir probando. Pero en un solo rollo demoraron más de 40 minutos. El Chef que realizaba el Sushi tocaba su teléfono y luego la comida. Ya desde ahí dije me equivoque de lugar. Pero queríamos probar, nos esperamos el tiempo. Cuando nos llegó el pedido, solo nos dieron 1 palillo chino cuando éramos 2, creo no son tan caros para ofrecer 1 más, el Sushi no tenía gusto de nada, si no es por la salsa era comer arroz sólo. Tube qué poner una servilleta como plato. Cuando por cortesía o sentido común sería lógico ofrecer un plato adicional. Lastima nuestra experiencia, Talvez fue mala suerte la nuestra.
