As we arrived at Hotel Punta Leona, or guide told us about, and highly, recommended a great seafood and meat restaurant called La Ostra (The Oyster) which is about 150m from the entrance to the Leona complex.
On our first night we decided to go and what a good call that was!
We had a couple of beers to start with, an enormous mariscada (seafood platter) for two, which contained everything you could wish for, including two halved lobsters - basically one each.
Plus a bottle of pretty good wine, we paid the equivalent of about €75. In Barcelona, the equivalent would have set us back more that €75 per person!
The waiters were very friendly and efficient, and when we returned on our 3rd and final night, we got to meet Ronaldo, the owner/manager, at the bar while paying, who plied us with shots until we told him to stop!
There's also a really cool guy who manages the car park - voluntarily, apparently in exchange for meals and tips from customers arriving by car - who spoke to us a lt, without wanting anything, and gave us some good recommendations - we gave him a tip even though we walked there from the restaurant as he was nice and friendly to two foreigners.
Would definitely recommend a visit if you're at Hotel Punta Leona or close...
Read moreDefinitely worth repeating!! We were staying at Punta Leona Hotel and didn't feel like braving the night traffic to Jaco for dinner. After reading the previous review about the contact lens we decided to try this restaurant. Boy, are we happy we did!!!!! There was a parking attendant who later helped us get back out onto the road (not an easy feat) and he covered us with an umbrella because it was raining. The service was exceptional. 5 star. Yahira, our server was SO friendly and helpful, pouring our wine before we could think about it. And the fish! I got snapper in garlic butter (great dose of garlic, yum!) and my husband got the snapper in curry sauce. Both were fabulous!! Next night we didn't even have to think about it, we're going back there! we had a different server (male, started with "M", sorry) and he was every bit as attentive. We both went with the snapper repeat and it was perfect again! Then our server brought us a complimentary dessert, Cocounut Flan. OMG!!!! I love flan, but it has NEVER been as good as this! This restaurant is just wonderful, food and experience alike. When we go back to Costa Rica, this is our...
Read moreThis place was rally close to me and my family's hotel, so it caught our eye.The presentation of the food was wonderful it was very deceiving when it came to the flavor of the food. The whole fried fish had barely any seasoning and it was basically just the fish by itself. We actually ended up getting a take home box for it so that we could season it at home. It was very beautiful though and the plate decor was gorgeous. The blandness was also an issue with the octopus and rice .Also, the appetizers are very big and fill you easily which doesn't leave a lot of room for the main course. They are very good though. Other than this, the drinks were actually delicious and some of the other meals were tasty! This place offers breakfast and lunch too so it's a good place for all...
