Vincek — Restaurant in City of Zagreb

We visited a pastry shop Vincek with friends, there were a lot of people that night, everything was busy. Regardless of everything, we waited for a table to become free because the cakes at this place are really incredible. Each of us took a different dessert, I took the nougat cake. Perfect taste, texture, it was immediately obvious that it was fresh. We were all happy with the dessert we chose. The service was fast and efficient, the waiter very pleasant. Slastičarna Vincek, nekada solidna slastičarnica, sada je samo razvikani brend s niskom kvalitetom kolača. Umjesto ručno izrađenih i svježih kolača nekadašnjeg Vinceka, Vincek danas nudi industrijske kolače iz polugotovih pasta u kojima dominira okus masnog margarina. Slične, ako ne i bolje kolače može se pronaći u pekarama i trgovačkim lancima, stoga nema ničega posebnog u Vincekovoj ponudi.

Danas smo probali tri torte: nugat tortu, čokoladnu tortu i kesten tortu. Nažalost, niti jedna od njih nije bila dobra.

Nugat-torta bila je punjena s dvije različite vrste industrijske paste u tamnoj i svijetloj boji, a dominirao je okus šećera i margarina. Čokoladna torta je imala sličan okus, ali pastu u samo tamnoj boji. Kesten torta je bila suha i nedorađeno bezukusna, proizvedena ne od svježih kestena nego od industrijske paste od kestena.

Cijene su preskupe za ovakve kolače, a ambalaža je također katastrofalna, kolači se pakiraju u ogromne i nezgrapne plastične kutije.

Zaključno, Vincek danas nije ono što je nekad bio. Kvaliteta kolača se srozala na niske grane, te se umjesto ručno izrađenih i svježih kolača - kao nekad u Vincekovoj slastičarnici u Socijalističkoj - sada nude industrijske kolače od jeftinih margarinskih pasta i s lošim sastojcima. Vincek je otvorio puno poslovnica po Zagrebu i zaposlio više od 100 ljudi... i to je lijepo i ide u prilog njihovom talentu za posao. Međutim, mogli su proširiti poslovanje uz održavanje visoke kvalitete. A to nažalost nisu učinili. Sada pekare i trgovački lanci imaju kolače iste ili bolje kvalitete i to uz puno...

I have ordered a cake for a small family celebration from this place. I have contacted them per e-mail and replies were coming incredibly fast, answering all of my questions and helping with suggestions. The cake was incredible! I normally prefer any kind of home made cakes rather than the bought ones but the one from Vincek was seriously fantastic!! Light, tasty, beautifully decorated and the price was also fine.
