Pullman Zagreb is a stylish new addition to the Buzin district, on the fringe of downtown Zagreb. While it’s slightly removed from the city center, its location offers a quieter escape, with Supernova Shopping Mall just a 10min walk away and convenient access to local bus routes and Uber rides.||||This was our first stay at Pullman Zagreb, chosen as the final stop of our beautiful Croatian adventure. The hotel is nestled among modern office complexes, and while navigating our hire car to the entrance was slightly confusing at first, we eventually discovered complimentary basement parking. From there, it’s a simple elevator ride to the reception on the ground floor.||||The building’s minimalist, industrial architecture initially felt a bit cold and corporate. But that impression was swiftly overturned by the warm welcome from the Front Office Manager, Mr. Petković. Noticing it was our first time at the hotel, he patiently offered local orientation tips and transport advice, something he must do often, yet his genuine passion and attention to detail shone through. As an Accor Platinum member, I was also fortunate to receive a complimentary upgrade to a spacious suite, which we truly appreciated. Late check-out was generously offered due to our evening flight, rounding out the exceptional hospitality.||||Facilities & Comfort||The gym is well-equipped 24/7 located on the top floor alongside a sauna and change rooms, a nice perk for jet-lagged travelers or night owls.||||The Pullman Suite we stayed in was enormous, so spacious it felt more like an urban loft than a hotel room. Two large TVs (connectable to mobile devices), expansive floor space, and a sleek design created a modern, though somewhat minimalist, environment. Think more “chic warehouse” than “cosy retreat.” The black walls and exposed ceilings give it an edgy, industrial feel, not for everyone, but certainly memorable.||||However, some design choices seemed more form over function. The luggage area lacked a wardrobe, just blank walls, so everything ended up on the floor. The mini-fridge, barely 10cm deep, left little room for our own items. The coffee machine sat awkwardly on a narrow bench, more decorative than practical. Also, the absence of an in-room phone meant we had to ring reception from our mobile. Not quite the convenience one expects in a suite.||||The open-plan bathroom, with its doorless shower cubicle, made for some splashy situations and a rather chilly transition straight into an air-conditioned room. A little more separation would go a long way here.||||Public Spaces & Dining||The ground-floor restaurant and bar serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner with friendly, laid-back service. The lounge area is beautifully designed, with cosy corners and communal tables, great for working, especially since the suite lacked a proper desk.||||One of the unexpected highlights was the consistent friendliness of the male front desk staff, especially the night-shift receptionist who always welcomed us back with a smile and a quick chat. These small gestures created a warm, homely vibe that elevated our stay.||||Service Impressions: A Tale of Two Halves||Unfortunately, not all interactions matched that standard. On one evening, a female receptionist seemed less than enthusiastic when we inquired about the bar’s closing time, her demeanor made it clear we were interrupting her peace. We chalked it up to a rough day.||||At check-out, there was a small billing error nothing major, but a discrepancy nonetheless. A new (male) staff member, working his very first day, was helpful and kind but understandably unsure how to amend the charge. He sought help from a more experienced female colleague. Instead of resolving the issue with grace, she became defensive and dismissive, even suggesting the overcharge was too minor to matter. Only after I physically brought the bar menu to show the pricing error did she agree to issue a cash refund. Her attitude, unfortunately, lacked the hospitality and courtesy we’d experienced from others.||||It’s not about gender, but consistency. While the newer male staff excelled in customer service with genuine warmth and professionalism, some of the female staff felt disengaged and indifferent. In the hospitality industry, attitude is everything, and that human touch, or lack thereof, makes a lasting impression.||||Final Verdict||Despite a few bumps, our 3 night stay was comfortable and enjoyable, thanks largely to the generous upgrade, spacious suite, and the standout service from key staff members. Pullman Zagreb is a good choice if you’re looking to stay outside the busy city center at a more reasonable rate, with easy access to public transport. There’s real potential here, but a more balanced and consistent approach to service across the board would truly elevate...
