Extremely disappointing stay. After reading all the glowing reviews and viewing the lovely room photos, we truly expected a much better experience. ||||Front Desk Staff: Greeted with coldness and apathy--not even remotely welcoming.||||Room: We were expecting an airy, clean-looking gray and white room as pictured on the Mövenpick Zagreb website. Instead, we were assigned a very dark, old, worn and dirty room with black and dark green walls and a non-functional layout. The wall next to the sink was completely water stained and had multiple patches of chipped paint.||The beds were hard, the pillows near flat and the linens visibly worn. Many of the outlets did not work. The towels were clean, but like sandpaper.||||Restaurant: More apathy. There was a large company dinner so the server simply ignored us. A simple one-dish order took almost an hour. The server was rather unpleasant, avoided eye contact and seemed somewhat annoyed.||||One of the dishes we ordered did not remotely resemble the menu description. When we questioned this, we were informed the kitchen had probably run out of ingredients. It would have made sense that the server would have informed us prior to bringing the order so we could change it. ||||Location: The area surrounding the hotel is not very nice but it is a short 10 minute drive to the airport -- without traffic and 20 minutes to downtown. ||||Based on my experience at this property, I would not stay here again nor would I recommend...

For those not driving and you are coming to Zagreb as a tourist, this hotel is not the most suitable for you because there is no convenient public transport. No subway, no trams. The only bus stop near to the hotel with only one bus service has been suspended due to disruptions from road works.

That said, the rooms are relatively new and quite high tech, with automatic opening of windows with one push of a bottom. They give you points if you choose not to clean your room, in the name of sustainability. We should support such initiatives even if it means a little inconvenience for us.

Breakfast was great. Many hotels within the Accor group do not provide an egg station. This one does. It has the full breakfast spread plus an egg station. Even have fresh honey dripping from a honey comb.

But in terms of service, I had a mixed experience. When I checked in, front office staff by the name of Igor was very polite and we engaged in conversation at about 1am in the morning, mostly him telling me about the hotel, how I was upgraded to apartment because of platinum status. Apparently the system flags the Accor member status upon booking so that appropriate upgrades and perks can be accorded (no pun intended)

And two days later, I requested Igor for late check out and got up to 2pm. Nice.

Well other than the fact the location is inconvenient for tourists, it’s a great hotel. If you drive,...

Mixed feelings about this hotel.

Firstly after reserving it for a fixed price on the Accor Hotel app by providing card details, we enter the hotel to find we have to pay a fee for deposit namely pre-authorisation. Then you also have to give your card at check out to actually pay, which makes it us giving our card three times. However, upon check out, we also ended up having to insert our card among trying other cards like 3-4 times when actually the card machine itsself was not working. All these were a big stress to add to our long and tiring journey. Why not just take one payment and let us be?

Upon entering the rooms, it just felt like a try hard attempt at modernity and less about functionality.

Toilet and shower is another problem, almost see through, its door has no lock. This may be okay for people with a double bed but having it in a room with seperate beds make no sense.

In one of the two rooms we booked, the rooms main door lock was broken, kettle lid was not opening, nespresso machine available but no pods to use. In both rooms there is nothing in minibar.

On the other side, has its own private garage which is good, location is ideal, breakfast was good but some items have no idea as to what is what as they either don’t have labels or the labels are all together so again not sure which is which.

Regardless of all, thank you for...

First, let me say that the service here was excellent and the bed was quite comfortable. The reason for my low rating is because we HATED the see-through bathroom. I suppose it’s intended to be ultra-modern design but really, who wants to sit on the toilet or shower in a glass walled room? Even though the glass was textured, you can still see through it so you have no privacy. Don’t stay here with a family member or friend if you don’t want to expose yourself! Moreover, I had a very early morning flight and would’ve preferred not to disturb my sleeping travel companion (who had a later flight) when I got up at 3:30 AM to shower but the annoying glass walls meant that when I turned on the bathroom light, it lit up the bedroom as well. (In the third photo you can see she’s trying to cover her head but she couldn’t actually sleep until I left.)

The room had a musty smell which was noticeable as soon I entered the room door, as though some water damage must had occurred. When I looked up at the ceiling right above the bed, patches of discolouration, evidence of water damage to the ceiling, was evident. There was NO plaster ceiling and the piping for fire sprinklers were exposed and visible, as were the electrical wiring to the overhead lights. This ceiling looked more appropriate in a warehouse rather than 4 star hotel room. See attached photos and video. It was rather late when I checked in, so I was not in the mood to ask for a room change. But I had also wondered if the other rooms were also like this. I would not come here again if it were. No self respecting 4 star hotel should ever offer paying guests a room in this condition. I'm disappointed with the Movenpick brand.

It was my first time staying at this hotel and my expectations well surpassed by a significant margin. The rooms are easily better than any 4* and even most of the 5* hotels in Zagreb, with surprises like a TV integrated into a big mirror, which is the first I’ve ever seen, and modern but cozy designed rooms that offer everything you would possibly need. Our dog loved the hotel as well. The gym is well equipped, the breakfast is fulfilling and the staff are extremely polite. Most of the guests were tourists, we were an exception, but never the less I noticed the staff’s English is on an advanced level so I suggest this hotel to every non-Croatian speaker as well. If I had the chance, I would change the usual go-to well known 4* hotel for our company business trips to this one in a hearbeat.
