Read moreGrowing up on the East Coast But traveling globally for work, this is a little gem that really surprised me. I have been to over 15 Michelin star restaurants- from France to NYC, DC, Croatia etc. and can say what the chef is trying to do here is incredible for such a tucked away restaurant in a small town on the picturesque island of Brač. You can tell that him and the staff really care about the food and put the time in to discover and buy the best qualities (also... much cheaper than going to a Michelin star restaurant!). I saw reviews of small portions- but after visiting (and getting stuffed) this is simply not true :) .. don’t get me wrong, if you are someone who must eat an entire XL pizza to be satisfied, perhaps you might be hungry still if you only order a main, but we were extremely satisfied.
I highly recommend the tuna tartare (delicious), the creme brudet is to die for, the broccoli soup is fantastic and the fig risotto was pleasant as well. For dessert, the four of us split a lava cake and Lemon cake (must get). We came here once and immediately booked a table for 2 nights later before our departure.

Unlike the mainland with Split and the sounding area, the island of Brač had through the drive of some very talented young individuals, families and their trams have been steadily working on raising the quality of food, wine and overall experience for their guests. Konoba Kala is one of those very special and unique stories where family tradition, the energy of the young generation and the best that Brač has to offer in terms of fine dining have come together. The young chef and his team have prepared for our family a wonderful journey of tender lamb, wonders of delicious seafood, home-grown vegetables and fruits, paired with wines that hold the esence of summer and are produced just a few kilometres away and a finale of desserts that will melt in your mouth. Dear Konoba Kala team, it was magic, it was delicious, we enjoyed it immensely. We will see you again and again. Your hard work, attention to detail and hospitality have left us in your debt.
