One of the best ice creams, but I give it 2 stars only for a reason. Read on...
We have discovered this gelato a year ago, in Vrsar. You could really feel the natural aroma, not being too sugary either. Almost every evening we drove from our camp to Vrsar (about 25min) to get some Aroma gelato - it was THAT GOOD! There were so many flavors, including the premium flavors and we tried them all and always left a lot of money there - but it was worth it.
This year we first visited one in Zagreb. The price was suddenly very high 3,50€ and lots of flavors were missing. We thought, perhaps Zagreb is more expensive and the coast will offer more flavors in summer. And here comes the summer and we found out the ice cream shop was closed in Vrsar, so we (again) drove all the way to Novi Grad and later to Umag, only to find out the same high price. I've never been stingy when it comes to something good, but here's the thing - there were only very few flavors of those more ''fascinating ones'' available. They seem to have kept the more ''classic'' tastes that are mostly milk-based (cheaper to make) and I can also say some of those don't have that magical flavor they did last year. They just don't. There's Madagascar vanilla, mascarpone with dates and walnuts, dark chocolate, pistachio, hazelnut, forest fruits, lemon etc. - very basic flavors. We missed flavors like watermelon, melon, raspberry etc. and all that ''jazz'' that made Aroma once worth paying a higher price.
Last year we ended up leaving even 20€+ per night when trying out all the flavors, but also getting satisfaction from it. This year it kinda felt stupid to pay 7€ just for two scoops of very basic milky flavors. The ice cream is still good, although not as fantastic as last year, and don't get me wrong, but 3,50€ is just the price I am no longer willing to pay. I am not stingy when it comes to high-quality food and appreciate every bit of it. But when someone offers me wide selection, great quality and reasonable, higher price one year, and lowered quality for very high price the next year, topped with narrowed selection, I get disappointed.
There are also so many, many interesting flavors on your website, but we visited your 3 different locations and the offer is always very minimal. I wonder which of your ice cream shops has them all? I understand some fruits or nuts are out of the season, and I respect that, but many are actually in season and still not available. So I'm disappointed. I really wanted to...
Read moreAttention ice cream lovers! We are currently on vacation in Karogador, and since our son has a gluten intolerance, we’re always on the lookout for safe treats. We discovered this ice cream shop in Umag more or less by chance during a stroll, as it’s a bit tucked away and not immediately eye-catching.
We really wanted to enjoy some ice cream while exploring the town and passed by many parlors, most of which showcased their ice cream in artistic piles. But that’s a familiar sight in many tourist spots. When you ask for gluten-free options—even in Croatia—you’re often met with a shrug, since many flavors are topped with cookies or mixed with other gluten-containing ingredients, and the cones are rarely gluten-free.
Not here. This ice cream shop offers excellent gluten-free ice cream. The flavors are stored in closed containers—not flashy, but a sign of quality and hygiene. What sets this place apart is the use of natural ingredients, unique flavors, and a commitment to avoiding artificial colors and additives.
We immediately recognized the brand, having visited another branch in Zadar two years ago.
There is a wide variety of flavors and even several types of gluten-free cones to choose from. The staff are wonderful—friendly, helpful, and well-informed about all the ingredients in each flavor.
Although only our son needs to eat gluten-free, we all chose to get our ice cream here—and we were glad we did! It was just as delicious as we remembered, and we’ll definitely return to Umag just for this fantastic ice cream.
Many thanks to the owners and the...
Read moreThis ice cream shop may not be the most visible from the street, but we happened to walk by and decided to step inside — and what a pleasant surprise it was! The selection was truly impressive, offering both traditional and creative flavors.
We tried matcha, apple pie, lavender with lemon, peanut butter, and crunchy pistachio. Every single one was deliciously balanced — not overly sweet, with flavors that tasted natural and made from honest ingredients. You can really tell the difference in quality.
For ice cream this good, it’s definitely worth paying an extra euro or two. A hidden gem that I would gladly...
