To the staff of this restaurant, 2 hours of my time are worth less than 2 dollars. Pizza was otherwise decent, better than alternatives around. If you have time, let me explain this review better: in Cuba it's really hard for tourists to exchange money, and we were missing 2 dollars (a bit less than their listed price of a single drink) at the moment of paying a bill of over 33 dollars. We generously offered the equivalent of 5 dollars, even 10 dollars in other currencies (British pound, Mexican pesos) to fix that. The waiter had no mercy: had to be 2 dollars or the equivalent in cuban pesos. I can't really blame them. They served a drink, and we couldn't pay a few drops of it the way they wanted. Maybe the lack of mercy was not out of cruelty, but because the population here is poor in a way a western tourist like me cannot even imagine, and 2 dollars is a little treasure to these indigent people. Maybe it's also ignorance and distrust when they see someone in distress offering currencies they're not familiar with. I'm still somehow distraught thinking this country is in such state that, not only can't welcome tourists and make them feel comfortable paying how they can (especially by card), but also is populated with someone with a heart worth so much less than 2 dollars that, rather than just offering the missing fraction of a drink, would rather see another human struggling for 2 hours among broken hotel exchanges, out of service cadecas, atms that blacked out intermittently before ending up not accepting foreign cards. I like to think that, despite poverty, I would have found that kindness and that everything would have ended up in a review that wasn't written in such disappointment. The hotel exchange service eventually worked again, and we managed to pay the 2 remaining dollars. If we knew and had 2 dollars, though, we would have used them in a restaurant where people showed to be worthier than that, so not here.
