Restaurant Masasoura: A Cypriot Culinary Experience
During our holiday we enjoyed the local gastronomy every day, but Restaurant Masasoura stood head and shoulders above the rest. Located in the heart of Tala, this restaurant offers an authentic dip into Cypriot cuisine, complete with the chanting of the nearby church and the gentle splash of a fountain in the market square – a setting that puts you straight into a Greek Cypriot fairytale.
Upon entering we were warmly welcomed by Tekla, the charming hostess whose career change from lawyer to restaurateur is an inspiring story in itself. Together with her son, she runs this establishment with passion and finesse.
The grilled haloumi cheese was a revelation, perfectly balanced with the variety of mezes. The stiffado and lamb shank, prepared via slow cooking, were sublimely seasoned with Mediterranean herbs that made every bite a tasty discovery.
The dessert was a masterpiece: orange peel, prepared with honey, found the perfect balance between sweet and bitter.
The accompanying white wines, carefully selected from the Paphos region, were a true delight for the palate with their light mineral touch and citrus tones that lingered long after the last sip.
We, Sieglinde and Bart, recommend dining at Restaurant Masasoura without any hesitation. Allow yourself to be surprised by the flavors and hospitality that this gem...
Read moreTried almost all the restaurants in Talla over the last twelve days but Masasoura stands out above all the rest. The service is friendly and very efficient, menu was impressive with a good selection of starters mains and sweets, the drink selection is extensive and reasonably priced. Food order was taken by Thekla who owns the restaurant, we opted for the Liver x 2 , I had the Chicken curry and my wife ordered a authentic chicken dish, food is actually prepared by Theklas son, and one other Chef, the food arrived after a short wait which we didn’t mind as it was obvious every dish was been prepared fresh. The food was very well presented of exceptional quality and cooked to perfection, Thekla was always at hand if we had any requests. I am sad to say we all felt a little sorry for the family as the restaurant is bypassed by many people in preference of a far inferior establishment close by which is confusing and disappointing. When we requested the bill the chef,s came out and introduced themselves and we complemented them on their excellent food, we were then presented with a complimentary desert. Read moreIt was highly disappointing and extremely disrespectful towards clients. We arrived at the restaurant, and only two tables were occupied. The tables were neatly set with tablecloths. However, when they brought our utensils, they placed them on a bare table, without a tablecloth— the only one in the restaurant.
We kindly requested to have the table we chose properly prepared and set. We had reserved for 8:00-8:15 pm and arrived at 8:15, yet we were ignored upon arrival. When we asked why our table was taken despite the reservation, the waitress chuckled and offered another table. There wasn’t even one properly set up for five people, so we requested it to be arranged. The same situation repeated: all other tables were set with tablecloths, while ours was randomly arranged. I asked for a tablecloth as well, just like other guests.
We waited again with children, but the waitress seemed busy with anything except attending to us. It was obvious we were being ignored. Eventually, we had no choice but to leave. Honestly, I don’t understand what we did to offend the waitress or what she disliked about our family, but this was the most unpleasant experience we...
