My son Tim and his grandparents recently visited Eda, a family-run Ukrainian restaurant about 20 minutes from Paphos. The place is run by a Ukrainian war refugee family, and we were really impressed by the genuine Ukrainian cuisine.
We started with some drinks, including a raspberry compote and kvas (a fermented drink like kombucha). These homemade drinks were perfect for a hot summer evening and really refreshing. Both had a unique taste with a fruity aftertaste that was just right for the Cyprus weather.
For appetizers, we had borscht (beetroot vegetable soup) that came with soft, buttery pampushkas (little dough balls) and sour cream. The soup was delicious, full of rich flavors from the vegetables and herbs. It felt like a high-quality meal you'd find in Kyiv.
Tim ordered kotletki (small Ukrainian-style burgers) which were tasty and served with crispy potatoes and a fresh cabbage salad. We also tried the chicken Kiev, which had a buttery center and moist chicken - it was excellent.
For dessert, we shared an apricot chocolate layered cake and a lemon cake. The apricot cake was rich with fudge chocolate and sweet apricot jam. The lemon cake had a nice zesty lemon curd and sweet sponge.
The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Overall, this is an exceptional restaurant serving classic Ukrainian dishes in a nice suburban area. My son and his grandparents would...
Read moreA lovely little family owned cafe that has only just opened (May 2023) in Kouklia. It is owned and run by 3 ladies (mother & 2 sisters). I was met with a warm welcome and then had a nice chat with one of the sisters about the cafe, etc. I ordered an iced latte and two breads: 1 with an apple filling and 1 with a cherry filling. Absolutely delicious. The coffee was very good as well. In fact, everything was so good I had to go back in and ordered a slice of honey cake. Again, this was absolutely delicious. It was a great find, and I am already planning to visit again in the next week. As you can see from my photographs, it is only a small place. However, they do takeaways, and you can order...
Read moreWow... EDA is a wonderful family run cafe. The women who run it are happy, friendly and passionate about what they do, they were a joy to speak to every day. We visited the cafe everyday (sometimes twice!) during our holiday because it simply was the best cafe we could find (we did try others too)! The food is fresh and inspired by family recipes, over the week we tried many different items from the menu and every single choice was wonderful. They are proud to share their passion. Visiting EDA was a highlight of our holiday, we wish we had an EDA at home! For anyone visiting, please be aware the Google map location isn't accurate, the cafe is on the main...
