Lovely tavern with large range of food including traditional Cypriot dishes. Vegetarian moussaka 10 EU and a sea bream 14 EU for main course were both delicious. Also had starters grilled halloumi which was tasty. The grilled prawn starter for 5 EU was good but slightly disappointed there were only 3 prawns but they were very large. They came in full shells but sadly no finger bowl or hand wash tissue given. For drinks had an alcohol free beer and half carafe of local wine. Total bill for 2 was 42 EU which was good vfm. Free pitta bread given also free melon slices and 2 free pieces of orange semolina cake after the meal. Good service and friendly helpful staff especially related to checking for food allergies.
This restaurant is in the square next to St Luke's church with tables outside into the square itself. There is no car park but sufficient free parking in nearby streets. They have live music some nights but not the full usual schedule at the moment as...
Read moreWe stumbled across Gabriel’s in Kouklia completely by chance on our first night – and what a find! It was after food service had finished, but Gabriel took one look at us, guessed we’d just arrived, and said he’d never turn away someone hungry. A true gentleman! He offered us a couple of options and we went for the beef stifado – absolutely delicious.
A couple of days later we came back for round two and it was even better! Gabriel and his lovely wife are so warm and welcoming, and the staff couldn’t be more obliging. He’s been running the taverna for 10 years, tucked away off the beaten track, yet it’s always full… and that tells you everything you need to know.
If you’re in the area, don’t miss it – we’ll definitely be back!
Thanks for helping make great holiday...
Read moreAte twice here on our holiday. The first time was great, the service was great, food was delicious, very reasonable and music across the square that was brilliant. Came back again for the Cypriot music night. Was only a buffet, which was more expensive, less good food, less good service, and frankly very disappointing. We booked early and asked for a table on the street to be able to see the music and dancing. Were put at the far end where we couldn’t see anything at all, got very sporadic service, had a table that wobbled and lost some of our drinks and was just a bit of a rubbish experience. If we come back, we would definitely go to Efraim next door where we would have been able to see the entertainment. The food and meze is also...
