Went with my wife and ten months old son on Wednesday, lady with short blond wig (who seemed like owner) and the serving gentleman both were very welcoming and kind. We ordered mezze for two but barely ate half cos our son started crying. We did not want to ruin others dining experience so we decided to leave and were told there is live music on Saturday 25th which happened to be my wife's birthday.
I decided to arrange a Babysitter for our son so could go back to this amazing Traditional restaurant and experience the true Cypriot dining experience.
Our table was booked for 8pm, we arrived at 07:55pm, and we were stared at by everyone as we stood there waiting to be served. Then this lady almost shouted at the gentleman who was serving then said something back which all seemed like they confused why are we there. Then the gentleman apologised saying that he had put my name on the table outside by the door where some family already been sitting. We could just leave we said but they insisted we sit by the door table. Lady arrives holding menus almost throwing them on table, doesnt say a word and goes to hug someone who just entered the restaurant. Comes back and shouts at us "Daksii YOU READY???" I said just a minute or two please. She left and then we waited and waited so someone could take order, I ended up asking the gentleman if we could place the order... wig lady came back "SO YOU READY NOW?" I felt very unwelcomed and embarrassed as we had made arrangements of a babysitter costing us 140 euros so we could enjoy this experience on my wife's birthday which turned out to be a total disaster when the Mezze was smaller portions than Wednesday, lacking taste and many items just burnt completely. We washed down some of the food with three cans of Coke and a large bottle of water. Coming from Finland it isn't in our nature to disrespect someone's cooking when shouted EVERYTHING OKAY?? We politely said well its just not our taste and maybe too well done.
I wouldn't have put this review but this owner lady was way too rude even the way she took the payment and ripped the receipt and run back inside saying a loud "THANK YOU VERY MUCH"
Please respect your guests whether they live in same village or visit first time. Everyone's money pays your bills same way!
Don't serve burnt food!
Improve you seating standards!
We paid you 58 euros for a burnt stomach aching Mezze platter, 3 cans of cola and one large water. Your attitude is outrageous! You ruined our evening!
Won't come again and will tell all our friends living around Aprhodite hills to...

Read moreThe finest example of Cypriot 🇨🇾 cuisine in the beautiful village of Kouklia, Efraim Tavern is my favourite in Paphos region. Located in the heart of the center square right in front of the church ⛪️ it is impossible to go unnoticed. During summertime the council forbids access to cars 🚘 giving the pass for the local restaurants to spread their tables to accommodate visitors, both locals & tourists. Parking is only 50m from the square. The place is usually packed, so arriving early might be essential, or even better, booking your table will give you the satisfaction of having a place to food 🍲 paradise. The best option recommended is meze 🫒 🫓 , but you really will have lots of dishes to choose from among the finest tastes. The souvlaki is immensely rich in taste 👅, tender but crispy, it places itself on top of the must-try dishes! One of my favourite appetizers is definitely zucchini with eggs 🥚 and is usually served in meze. Make sure you ask for it! Last but certainty not least, the ultimate and most distinguishing dish of the tavern is none other than the village salad 🥗 in-a-bun 🥯❣️ It is naturally served with meze and guarantees you the best appetite. The owner Maria is kind, polite, ready to assist in every way, she’s the soul of the business. I always feel relaxed when she greets me. The stuff, either family or not, is very friendly and expert in serving the most demanding customers.
Visiting Kouklia is rewarding. The archaeological site is rich in texture, Palaipaphos museum, the Royal Manor, though finishing off should take you to Efraim. You surely...
