During our cycle tour along the Vltava and Labe rivers my wife and I from Oregon, USA, came upon Labska Basta famished, still only wanting just enough sustenance in order to keep riding. We decided to split a burger. Our server was very accommodating, presenting us a split burger on two plates - clearly tasty beef made on the spot. Espresso macchiato was perfect. The surroundings are dated, but don't let that be a hindrance. Where else do you get a burger accompanied by lemon water to rinse your hands - and the sandwich wasn't even greasy. 25% tourist tax.. it’s not an exaggeration. I ordered main, sides, beer. I get the receipt and this man tells me there’s a 10% service fee not included in the bill, and then takes extra 25%.. I’ve travelled a lot of places and countries, this never happened to me before where I don’t get given back my full change, let alone 25% of bill. I don’t know maybe that’s normal here but I’ll be surprised. I feel ashamed I let it happen...

Nice location by the river. English menu is available and the waiters know English. The food was OK. We had the perch with mushroom risotto, salmon with grilled vegetables and the tagliatelle with shrimps. Plus two sauces. The perch was good, the salmon was OK, but the shrimp was dry and didn’t taste good. The sauces, the grilled vegetables and the mushroom risotto are charged extra (they don’t come with the dish).
