Run-down, ugly, filthy and bad location.
The lodging is very unassuming from the outside. It looks like your typical dilapidated and ugly apartment building. Well, surprise! It is just as bad in the inside.
The highlight is the bathroom which has an OSB wood floor. They put a PVC carpet resembling wood over it to hide it is OSB, however it does not cover the whole floor. On the ground next to the sink are loose tiles that you can easily pick up. They move when you walk on them. Approaching the toilet, it looks fine, however the toilet rocks back and forth when you sit on it. Behind the washing machine, there were underpants (?) from a previous occupant.
There was a hole connecting the bathroom with the living room because the ground was caved in a couple of centimeters. There was a big shower with warm water which was nice. It smelled like sewage and they tried to hide it with a car air freshener. The entire bathroom was haphazardly put together. The pipes lay bare and sharp tile edges abounded.
A terrible place for kids. When the pipes heat up, touching them could leave skin burns. Sharp edges pose a hazard.
On the windowsills, there were bug corpses littered everywhere. There were living bugs crawling on the windows too. Luckily they were of a harmless kind and did not bother us.
The ground was dirty. There was no broom, no vacuum cleaner or dustpan. Dirt had to be left on the ground. The hallways were unkempt as well despite there being housekeepers.
This goes beyond regular filth. There was construction debris that was never cleaned up. You could smell it. Nobody seems to have ever taken the time to properly clean up.
The television was tiny and had bad audio. A far cry from the lofty "flatscreen TV" that was advertised. I guess they did not specify the size. At least it worked though.
The backdoor to the building was always open, allowing for all sorts of people to come in from behind and making keys to the front door moot.
In the hallways, there were signs of renovations. Among other things, they seem to have painted over the old mural artwork with white paint, thus ruining it. There were houseplants in pots as decorations but they had no soil or water, leaving them to die. Bad job all-around.
The beds looked and sounded very cheap, as though they could collapse at any moment. The chairs were relatively uncomfortable.
The area is very run-down in general. There were many abandoned houses across the train track. There is nothing to see except the passing trains. The entire city sucks and all we could see was Roma. I heard there are two Roma ghettos nearby and that is where they come from. They were rather friendly and peaceful but impoverished and it made for a terrible tourist destination. They did not know any English or German at all.
The microwave was working, there was a fridge. There was cutlery, dishware and other essentials. Animal-friendly. No mold.
You had to pay different amounts for the same apartment depending on the amount of people in it. You got the same lodging, same everything but more expensive if you had...
Read moreIt was very disappointing and dirty. The shower and kitchen were so dirty that we did not want to use it. The shower drain smelled like sewage, which could be smelled throughout the apartment. Furniture was dirty and had no cushions. This apartment is situated between a noisy road and railway. At night the railway was used every 5 minutes by very long cargo trains. Sleeping with an open window was not possible. It has a small parking place beside the building. They have tried to renovate the building, but they they have tried to finish it was an disaster. Sealant and paint everywhere. Slippery tiles and steps in the shower. The boiler that discharges dirty water into the shower tray, tape on the frames, skirting boards were missing and can go on like this for a while. During the booking I had asked for an apartment which is situated on the ground floor while I was walking with crutches. And he put us in the highest apartment. Unfortunately the owner did not make 1 effort to solve the problem of walking 5 staircases. Or give back my money so I could book somewhere else. It was catastrophic for me to climb up and down all those staircases. Never go back here again, not even for 1 night. Even this price is too...
Read moreIt feels an unfinished property, plenty of just finished signs, but desperately short of minor things to make a short stay pleasant. No mirror in the bathroom, really irked,no tea towels, washing up liquid. It's location is a mile out of town in a very industrial area, and because the traffic noise is amplified by large buildings on opposite sides it's very noisy. It was cool when I visited and kept windows closed,it could be unbearable. It is a building on a good scale , rooms are big and furnished, but for me I would have liked one hard dining chair. It could make a good base for someone visiting preferably...
