Espresso Martini in a cup, flat beer and fish drowning in grease - those were the overall memories of dinner at Kongernes. Not to mention the feeling of being an inconvenience to the staff.
The first warning should have been the unenthusiastic greeting despite having booked a table. We ended up deciding to sit outside to enjoy the last of the summer weather and managed to find cushions and blankets ourselves.
The second red flag should have been the drinks. Two beers, of which the Carlsberg was as flat as a pancake, a watery Aperol Sprits - and an Espresso Martini in a small coffee cup. No foam. When we questioned it, we were first offered to have it transferred to a cocktail glass, and then told that they did not really have the ingredients for it. As the most expensive cocktail on the menu, this seemed a slightly surreal experience. We opted for another drink.
After waiting for over 35 minutes to order food, we should probably have upped and left. However, we persevered, went inside, got a waiter to come outside and take the order. We made the mistake of asking what the fish of the day was and got the response "It is a white fish". The waiter left and came back, and at this point it was apparently necessary to have the chef/owner standing in the background to oversee the order taking. The oversight apparently did not extend to asking how any of the three steaks were to be cooked ...
Now we settled down to wait for the food. And wait. And wait. We decided to move inside. Drinks were almost gone, but at no point did any of the two waiters come over and ask if we wanted anything else. If anything, we felt like an inconvenience and interruption to the family party that one of the waiters seemed to be a part of.
The food arrived. The fillet was fine. Both entrecotes were far too red for the liking of the diners. There was some confusion about the sauces and the plates were cold. But the plaice was a disaster. Covered in rye bread crumbs and soaking in some grease it was close to inedible. At this point we just wanted to get out.
When it came to pay the bill, we had been charged 110 kr for the espresso martini. I had to ask to have it changed to the replaced drink. No word of apology.
I will always try and support local business and give people the benefit of the doubt. But apparently this is not the first time people are commenting on the poor service, so it cannot come as a chock to them. I, for one, cannot remember when we as a family last had such an...

Har ikke lige luret hvordan jeg kan svare på tilbagemelding fra restauranten, så det kommer her i forlængelse af bedømmelsen
Hvad angår maden, så fik vi den fastlagte Tisvildeleje menu, og ja det smagte godt, og virkede generelt friskt og veltilberedt.
Omkring skudt over målet, så var menuen noget jeg ville have forventet at se i en storby, men måske bare mig der ikke kommer nok omkring i landet til mindre "feriebyer" og ser hvordan udviklingen har været på det område, og beklager hvis det træder nogle over tæerne med den betegnelse af Tisvildeleje.
Jeg kan se at mine andre anmeldelser også er blevet læst, og nej var måske ikke fair med 2 stjerner i forhold til biografen i Helsingør, da min kommentar der også var rettet mod primært prisniveauet. Så hatten af for det gode håndværk og opfindsomheden der blev præsteret fra køkkenets side, og den gode betjening i restauranten, og en stjerne mere på bedømmelsen
Og ja jeg synes godt der kunne være et alternativ hvad jeres øl angår så der også er noget til under 74 kr, men omvendt synes jeg også det er super at i støtter mindre producenter, og deres gode produkter.
Hvad angår mit "piv" over vandet, så har jeg fuld forståelse for at det på ingen måde er gratis at åbne vandhanen i Danmark, og at vandet i hanen generelt er på et fantastisk niveau i forhold til så mange andre steder i verdnen. Det kan måske lures af mine andre anmeldelser at jeg kommer en smule omkring, og ja en af de ting jeg savner mest fra Danmark ud over familien selvfølgelig, er det fantastiske danske hanevand. Så ja vandet behøver ikke at være gratis hvis det er det eneste af drikkevarer man bestiller, så har jeg fuld forståelse for at der er noget arbejde/omkostninger i at få det fra hanen til bordet i form af perosnale, rengøring af flasker osv, men er omvendt vant til, at når man bestiller en flaske vin, så kan man også godt bede om vand til, uden at det kommer på regningen. Hvis der er en liter vand i jeres flasker, så giver det en kubikmeter pris på 25.000 så selv om der skal fratrækkes prisen for en kubikmeter vand, nogle smadrede glas, og løn til personale, så tror jeg det er en ganske god forretning.
Og ja er jeg i området igen en dag, så kommer jeg gerne forbi og får et gratis...

After 20 min, he came and said one of our orders couldnt be prepared due to Lunch time, we said ok and change that one and asked ‘is the other order is okay’ he said yes. Then we wait another 10min, they served the changed one, nothing from the other one. Finally after 50min we asked the order and they said sorry we couldnt prepare it 😬 I’ve never experienced something so unprofessionaæ like this. We had 5 different waiter/ waitress in total and no one really look like to do something for orders. Definetely they should solve the communication issues between staff there.
