The restaurant is well away from the town centre in Vejle, right at the end of the docks but easily walkable in 15-20mins.
The restaurant is upstairs but there is a lift which helps greatly. Once inside, I found the place very stylish. They have a cloakroom and everywhere is spotless. I was on my own but I did spot lots of pots full of crayons and pictures for the kids to colour in which is cool.
I ordered a squid with Chorizo starter, the Hake for main and finished with a crème brulé. All were very nice and well worth trying however, I have given 4 stars because the starter and main were particularly salty on this occasion.
I can't say it would be like that every time so please don't take that to heart though. Just make sure to say something if you have the same experience.
All in all, a lovely restaurant and it's easy to see why it got so many recommendations from my colleagues as the place to go in...
Read moreI had somewhat high expectations for this restaurant before visiting. The restaurant is nicely located on the water front with a stunning view. From the window-side table you can look directly at the water, giving you a feeling that you are floating.
What disappointed me were the fake candlelights hanging from the ceiling and cheap plastic lamps on the tables. Not a huge thing but also not something I would expect from a restaurant in the price class. In my opinion it reflects the overall atmosphere.
I had the rib-eye steak with chips & sauce bearnaise and crème brûlée with lemon sorbet for dessert. I had ordered the steak medium, though it was more to the medium/well-done side. The taste was okay but could have used a bit more seasoning. The crème brûlée was a bit soggy though it did have a nice taste.
Taking everything into account I would have expected a bit more...
Read moreWe had the seasonal menu, which was a great pick for the price and the taste buds. The fish and steak were cooked to perfection but it was the stuffed Morkel mushroom with chicken and corn that "won" the price of the best dish of the night 🤯 other than that we started with two different oysters, the fried one and the other was with a ouzo vinegarette, both delicious. And we finished with the cheese plat which was fine nothing mind blowing there.
The staff did a decent job, and could answer all the "stupid" questions we had about the food, drinks and the name of the place. But the overall service was nothing special and one of our waiters made us feel like "we were in the way.
The view out over the harbour and the atmosphere in the restaurant were very nice 🥰
This is a great place to visit if you are starting to dip your toes in the gourmet waters 😜 would...
