MadRick — Restaurant in Vejle Municipality

It seems like there is a good portion of reviews that say the food is great. Which it is and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. We felt very well treated 👏

Maybe we we're not so lucky with the main dish. it was a bland and too many things mixed together which made it a bit of a weird combination ( refering to the side thats is the same for the meat and the fish). its a bit better with the meat but it definetly does not fit with the fish. It missed that punch or maybe I don't like carrot 😐 . The fish on the main was really nice fried. 👌

I am saying the above because the starter was very good and the desert was freaking delicious. The food portions were quite big so I could have easily traded the main for another desert since it was amazing.(Together with the wine for both)🥰.

I assumed since they make you taste the wine before pouring you a full glass is that if you dont like it, they maybe have a second selection( since we had wine pairing ). that was not the case. My girlfriend had the red wine which was much more on my taste than the white one for the main.

We dined here on Valentine’s Day, excited for a special evening. When we did receive our food, it was absolutely delicious - really well cooked and full of flavor. The ambiance was lovely, setting the stage for what we had hoped would be a great night.

Unfortunately, the experience was let down by poor service. The restaurant seemed severely understaffed, and some of the staff appeared untrained, forgetful, and struggling to keep up. While they were all very polite and friendly, the service was painfully slow. Our drinks were forgotten, and despite waiting nearly two hours before our main course arrive, eventually we had to leave without dessert, which was frustrating given the occasion.

We understand that Valentine’s Day can be a busy night for restaurants, but the lack of efficiency and organization made it a disappointing experience. We truly hope management takes steps to improve staffing and training because the food and atmosphere have great potential.

Amazing food which is made from fresh produce!

Mad Rick has a very simple menu with two appetizers, two main dishes and two desserts. We ordered the two main dishes which were duck roasted in duck fat and then pan seared, giving it that amazing crust, with a super rich mash potato and super tender beef with cauliflower mash and the two desserts which were five different apples in different ways (slices, ice cream, foam etc.) and a deliciously rich chocolate cake (Gateau Marcel) with an orange sauce giving it a great balance.

The staf is super friendly making sure to attend to your needs.
