CHEZ ISABELLE — Restaurant in Higüey

I’ll start by saying, we’re pretty snobby about food. We like good food and have high standards.

Before we are here, we were quite disappointed and underwhelmed with the food offerings at Excellence Punta Cana. As a result, we came into Chez Isabelle with low expectations. Even so, we were very impressed with the food. Comparing it to the other restaurants at the resort, it’s in a different league. Even compared with restaurants in major cities across the world, it was respectable. The ingredients used here were of a much higher quality than the other restaurants at the resort.

Highlights were the scallops, the ribeye, the boulliabase, the snapper, and the little shot of vegetable soup that they brought out before we even ordered. To top it off, the desserts and the coffee were of a much higher quality than anywhere else on the resort.

I wish we had eaten here sooner, but grateful we ended our trip on such a high note. If you’ve tried other restaurants at Excellence, you might be thinking, “how much better could it actually be?” My advice: Don’t sleep on...

This restaurant, located within the all-inclusive Excellence Punta Cana, has earned a reputation for being one of the most popular dining destinations at the resort. Arrive early if you hope to secure a table, as those who show up for a late dinner may find themselves on a waiting list.

During our visit, we were pleasantly surprised by the level of service. As is the norm at EPC, the service was impeccable and exceeded our expectations, outpacing the service at the other restaurants on the property.

As for the food, it certainly lived up to the “EPC hype”. Our meal started with a richly flavored vegetable soup shooter amuse bouche and the onion soup gratinee was executed with finesse. The mushroom duxelles with chicken was a unique dish, and the beef tenderloin with cognac reduction, although tough, was still enjoyable.

All in all, Chez Isabelle at Excellence Punta Cana is a standout dining destination and a 5-star experience within the resort. If you're looking for a memorable dining experience during your stay, I highly recommend checking out...

The French onion soup to start was great, not too salty but cooked perfectly, followed by a rib eye steak in sauce, perfectly cooked.

My wife had the goats cheese to start followed by the beef stew which had plenty of depth of flavour.

The desserts were lovely and we finished it with an iced Bailey's. Delicious.

Finally, the service. The service last night was superb and Joel who served us was attentive and had an excellent demeanor about him.

Nothing was too much trouble and that was for all the tables he was serving, not just us. It was a fantastic service.
