El Mosquito Beach Bar — Restaurant in Las Terrenas

This is a fun place to check out with incredible views and atmosphere! The bar is well stocked and there are a lot of items to choose from, and they have some fun drinks too.The view is dreamy, you really feel like you are somewhere special. We had caipariñas, they were well made and delicious. Side note, the bartender did a lot of touching his face and nose without washing his hands, which was a bit of a turn off for us. We paid up at the bar and got a table for lunch, which opens at 12:00 and we ordered tacos de camarones and a Peruvian dish, pescado a lo macho con camarones. Wow 🤩 This was a delicious find! I am still thinking about how great this was. It also came out with a lobster on top, which was not mentioned on the menu, nice surprise! The tacos were less amazing. Good salsa, great mango, but the camarones were served cold, a bit of a surprise to us because we are used to hot camarones in our tacos. Now, the service. When we got our table, no one came to assist us. We sat there a while, then we got up and went and found a waiter, who was nice and willing to take our order, but I don’t know how long we would have waited otherwise. There was a group of 5-6 waiters hanging out at the bar, all of them on their phones. Food came out relatively quickly, but we got our order in before the rest of the 30-40 patrons who were also waiting at tables, so I don’t know how long you would have to wait on a busy night. El Mosquito Beach Bar is a must-visit in Las Terrenas! ☀️🌴 I spent an unforgettable day there today, and I'm eager to share my impressions. The first thing that catches your eye is the incredible atmosphere of relaxation and carefree bliss. Imagine: the azure waves of the Atlantic Ocean, soft sand under your feet, comfortable sunbeds in the shade of spreading palm trees... 🌴😌 El Mosquito Beach Bar is the perfect place to disconnect from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the moment. The service here is simply top-notch! 👍 Despite the fact that the waiters don't speak English or French very well, their incredible hospitality and sincere desire to help more than compensate for this small shortcoming. 😊 The cocktails are a separate story! 🍹 They are simply amazing! Huge selection, original presentation, and very pleasant prices. And most importantly - lightning-fast service! 😉 As for the interior, it is thought out to the smallest detail. Extremely disappointing experience. We visited this restaurant as part of a retreat with a group of 22 people. Unfortunately, the person in charge only assigned one server for the entire group. As expected, the service was extremely slow — drinks arrived late, some were poorly made and had to be returned, and a few people never received their drinks at all.

One guest received spoiled shrimp that had a terrible odor and tasted rotten. Another had a mofongo that was rock hard and inedible.

To make matters worse, there were dogs fighting under our table multiple times, and the staff did nothing to address it. At one point, we witnessed a dog attacking a horse near the beach area, and a person had to be taken by ambulance after getting hurt by the dog. The entire situation was chaotic and very poorly managed.

This dinner was meant to be part of a planned evening with karaoke, but because the service was so delayed and the environment so stressful, we were forced to cancel the rest of our itinerary and call it a night early.

To top it all off, today I noticed that I was charged twice on my credit card — a charge that does not match my receipt. I’ve contacted the restaurant about this and hope they will resolve it quickly.

This was supposed to be a joyful and relaxing evening, but it turned out to be one of the worst parts...
