Central Gastronómica — Restaurant in Santo Domingo

What a Total disappointment. My wife’s best friend that lives here in Santo Domingo recommended this place for us to meet for lunch. We start by ordering 2 bottles of Cava (sparkling wine from Spain) they didn’t have in stock. We then order 2 bottles of Champagne. Again, they didn’t have in stock. My wife and her best friend request to see the cocktail menu. They order a Lychee martini, the waiter answers. We don’t have lychee in stock. They then order another cocktail from their cocktail menu that was recommended by the waiter. The waiter comes back. “Im sorry we don’t have that cocktail either”. The first five things we ordered from their menu they didn’t have in stock. The 3 waiters apologized themselves and said the restaurant had very little stock. Very very disappointing. Beautiful restaurant but apparently the purchasing agent does a horrible job keeping stock of their bottles of champagne, Cava, and cocktail ingredients. My husband and I arrived from Miami for business and were excited to try this highly recommended restaurant. However, our visit was marred by abysmal service. My husband's drinks were forgotten, and we were never checked on despite long waits. My tuna tartare arrived after my main course, and our sushi order was initially wrong; yet, we were charged for their mistake.

The servers response was beyond unsatisfactory; instead of apologies, we faced blame!! He stated that it was our fault that we should've known and since there was a missing piece of sushi there was nothing he could do. I honestly found this ridiculous as , we explained to the server the missing piece of sushi was because we assumed it was our correct order and were starving since our appetizer arrived after our entrees. However we were given a blanked stare with zero consideration

Additionally, my guests' mojitos were served warm. Basic service seemed like a luxury as we found ourselves constantly seeking attention.

Service overall is the worst I have ever experienced. This place will have you waiting hours just for water after asking several times. Our server Eliana has the worst hospitality I have ever seen. Ask for anyone else. She will have you dying of thirst. Will give attitude after asking several times for our beverages. We requested for an actually hard menu as we had elderly in our group who are not tech savvy to us theQR code, we had to ask 3 times for her to provide us with the meanu. We asked for a lactose option and she only offered salads. Did not provide us updates on our food after waiting an hour after ordering which was no excuse as the restaurant was very slow. We received a plate that was undercooked and she argued that there was nothing wrong with it after we stated we did not want to accept the plate. She stated she will call a manager over and he came to take the plate with no problem. We ended up with another server which was the best option as our experience was not what we expected.
