This is the weirdest restaurant I’ve ever been to in Cairo. The menu is only written in Chinese, nothing in Arabic, nothing in English. There is no one to greet you when you come in, just a woman sitting at a desk who doesn’t even look at you. There are a dozen or so Egyptian men in black T-shirts scurrying back and forth talking to each other. You can’t tell if they work there or if they’re attending some kind of dinner for their club. One of them came over and handed us some kind of iPad with pictures of the dishes. We were supposed to order directly off the iPad written in. Chinese only. I found out only four of men were waiters and the others did other jobs. None of them could help us with the menu because they didn’t speak Chinese. They were as lost as we were. Finally I was able to find the only waiter who spoke other English and Arabic. I asked him how he communicated with the chefs in the kitchen and their employers. He said none of them spoke Chinese. I asked him if that didn’t make life difficult and laughingly replied “very difficult!” 😄Food was blah, very bland. The hot and sour soup was watered down and the beef with scallions practically inedible. Altogether quite a disappointment in...
Read moreMenu is in Chinese only. I had the audacity to ask if it was possible to change the language (menu is on a ipad of sole sort), but no - chinese only, but we could order based on the pictures... We didn't really mind though, I opened google translate on my phone and we started to read the menu via my phone, but then the maitre'd came over, apparently annoyed, and told us he would help us - and he more or less decided that we would choose between two dishes each, we could not read or see all the items on the menu anymore. So we basically felt forced to order the things he chose to show us, and he left with the iPad. He really ruined the experience for us. In the end, two of us got food we didn't like. Prices appeared to be in yen (¥), but were in fact EGP. This was one of the priciest dinners we've had, and it was not that great, and just terrible service. Additionally they allow smoking anywhere in the restaurant, there is no smoking/non-smoking section (we even asked to be seated in non-smoking, and they showed us to the area we were sat in, without saying that in fact this could become a smoking section...
Read moreA lamb dish ordered was 90% fat, we said we could not eat that. They said that’s how the Chinese eat it. We asked not to pay for this particular item but they refused, they said you ordered it you pay for it. We disputed it with the waiter for 5 mins, then asked for manager who they said could not come because she was busy. I went to the manager who referred me to assistant manager who refused refund the meal we had returned .The main manager said nothing but continued her work. After standing there another 5 or 10 mins getting nowhere. I deducted the amount for that item and gave them cash and walked out. The menu is in Chinese and the pictures on the iPad type menu were very small. I think that if I was Chinese, then I could read the menu and get the dishes that I liked which I expect would be better than your average Chinese restaurant. I would not recommend this restaurant unless you know...
