The place is beautiful, with a nice view of the golf course. However, the water in the small waterfall near the restaurant had a bad smell. The food also did not match what I had seen in their Instagram videos. I tried three starters, and in two of them (the octopus and the “batatas bravas”) there was far too much ketchup, even though they were supposed to be made with tomato sauce. The Pica Pau fillet was good.
As a main dish, I had the wild mushroom rice, but the mushrooms tasted stale, almost like something left in a cupboard for too long. The grilled octopus arrived a bit cold, placed on top of a large pile of salad, which looked quite odd.
The lights were dimmed, which created a very cozy and romantic atmosphere. However, it was so dark that we had to use our mobile flashlight to read the menu. A small dimmed table lamp at each table would make a big difference.
Service was also disappointing: the waiters rarely checked on us, and we had to call them every time. They brought us the food menu but not the drink menu, which we had to specifically request after ordering our food. Overall, it felt like the place was...
Read moreBased on a number of the reviews I read we were not expecting great food but since we are staying in the hotel and didn’t fancy going out, we gave it a go. Well, we have eaten here both Thursday and Friday night now and am very pleased to say it was really really good!
Thursday we had garlic chilli prawns and Patatas bravas to start and then the rack of lamb and octopus with potatoes for mains. The octopus was perfectly cooked, nice and grilled on the outside and a little soft still on the inside. The lamb was well cooked and a really nice combo with the other parts of that dish. We also got a side of vegetables which were really nice. Everything was really well seasoned, we didn’t need or ask for any salt, pepper or anything.
Friday we had 2 mains - the seabream and the piri piri chicken. Again, both were excellent! We are very happy.
We are currently waiting for our dessert but expect it will be nice as well. Thank you and compliments to the team...
Read moreI was really looking forward to dining here, but the experience was quite frustrating. First, I asked for the salmon tartare, which they didn’t have. Then I said the tuna tartare would be fine — only for them to come back later and say they didn’t have that either. When I tried to cancel the rest of my order, they told me it wasn’t possible because the food had already started being prepared. Later, they came back again saying it actually was possible to cancel.
The food itself tasted nice, but the service was extremely unorganized and unprofessional. Definitely not the level of experience you’d expect from a restaurant...
