This place had amazing rotisserie chicken! It was fall off the bone good and cooked over an open fire. A set special for two people cost just under $10. We were on a city tour and left our tour that went to a fancy steakhouse for a place that felt more local and authentic. This was the spot we chose and we are so happy that we did so. The food was so delicious and the people working there were really nice. There were locals lining out through the door. Nonetheless, service was very quick.
The setting is quite casual. Think like you are getting food from McDonald’s and you go find your own seat to sit. With that said, everything is very clean and organized. There are two levels. The ground floor is where you get your food and there are seating areas and then a very clean bathroom. The second floor is a full seating area and it includes a handwashing station. We were very happy with our food and would definitely recommend you go. We told our tour guide afterwards that we went here and he said that a lot of the local moms and grandmas come here to bring food home when they don’t feel like cooking. Therefore, if it’s good enough for mom and grandma then it definitely is good enough for us!
This definitely feels like a much more local and authentic experience and we very much enjoyed it. We also had the good luck of walking through a cool market on our way here and we just felt so immersed into the...
Read moreIs this place serving the best chicken in San Salvador or the whole of El Salvador? I heard it is I had to come and try. It serves flame grilled chicken but not the normal fried chicken. I was there early and the queue was quite long already. The take away queue was long but the dine in queue was quite okay, however the tables on the ground floor were already all occupied. A lot of grumpy ladies working here so don't really expect good service but in general was okay. Turned out to be a drama for me because I appeared with a 100USD note and they didn't want to accept. They asked me to go exchange for small change at the supermarket which also rejected and in the end directed me to visit a bank. So I returned back 2 hours later and the queue was even longer than before. This time round one of the ladies recognized me and prepared my food rather quickly. I went to the upper floor since the ground floor was packed and upstairs was pretty quiet. I have to say the chicken is well grilled and still pretty juicy, and the seasoned cabbage is definitely a good complement to the chicken. However the potato chips and the bread are totally weird items to be included in the meal. When I left the restaurant the takeaway line was already chaotic. I guess that speaks how popular this...
Read moreThis is a tough one, please read carefully:
THE PLACE: Unique branch. Hideous, small, messy and dirty. Somewhat difficult to find. No parking lot. Always crowded, waiting a little and sharing tables are common things. THE SURROUNDING AREA: On the rough part of the city. Be careful. THE SERVICE: Don't expect to be treated nicely. Rude can be the usual. THE BATHROOM: Go somewhere else if you can. Bring your own Purell.
THE FOOD: It has become a Salvadoran tradition! Probably the best baked chicken (on wood oven) and definitely a must try... Beware: it's strong and a little salty to the palate. Also: chicken is the only main dish available, always served with marinade cabbage, bread and fries. MOST OF US JUST LOVE IT!!! MORE WHEN ADDING THEIR SO CALLED "WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE"...
