Villa Verde Lounge and Restaurant — Restaurant in Addis Ababa

Villa Verde is a favorite spot for residents of Addis. On occasion, this restaurant hosts musical events by popular bands, salsa nights, and DJs. On Saturday, May 25, there were two venues. Party goers went from salsa to DJ and back. The place was packed! Party goers had a good time, bottles of gin and vodka graced tbe tables. These were all double the price of what would have been expected elsewhere. The servers seemed to be having a difficult time keeping up with orders, and the lack of coordination had the managers requiring payment upfront. This sometimes happens when there are too many people to serve in the normal fashion.

However, there were more than a few incidents that the management could have avoided by simply being prepared. Train your servers to be fast, efficient, and courteous. Have chairs by the bar. A coordinated system of interaction between servers and cashiers. A coordinated system of interaction between bartenders and cashiers. A coordinated system of receiving payment. Servers should have stations they are responsible for. Servers should know the "special" prices Stock ice cubes and other necessities ... how can a restaurant hire a DJ, advertise ... then run out of ice!! Be ready and willing to take food orders. I ordered a cheese pizza (normally Villaverde has great pizzas) ... I was asked to pay 1,950Br up-front. On a normal day, this pizza would be around 700Br maybe a bit more!! It was outrageous!! Coordinate parking with the "attendants" outside. Show them a bit of kindness so they'll be courteous to...

The food is the best in Addis,waiters are friendly and helpful. However,the owners grim face and arrogant attitude towards regular customers is such a turn off. His behavior changes from customer to customer as he is seen tending those that are expats( even Xenophobic?). Not the best character from a person in hospitality industry. Not especially when your are serving the best food in Addis

The men toilets need some descent plumbing and also serving water from buckets like provincial rural outpost is so below...

Nice ambience, average food, good service during the meal BUT be careful when you make payment! I and my friends paid the exact amount and the server came back with some hundreds birr less. It wasnt our first time got cheated. We were about to give good tips for his service but he missed it and we all came back hugely disappointed. I dont really want to revisit there. Other than this, its a good place to hang out. Just make sure your server count the money in...
