Zaika — Restaurant in Addis Ababa

1st meal

Summary first, I highly recommend this restaurant for good Indian food in Addis.

I ordered (home delivery) chicken dum biryani, tandoori chicken and keema samosa. The dum biryani was not really a Calcutta dum biryani that we were expecting (with potatoes etc). However, it still had great flavour and was very satisfying. The tandoori chicken was well marinated and juicy. The keema samosa was a bit small but ok, the beef was seasoned well but was a little dry and the dough was a bit too oily for my taste. Finally, I do wish the restaurant added a helping of sauces that are traditionally paired with the tandoori chicken and samosas.

That said, I like the flavours and will definitely be ordered again from Zaika.

4th meal - the reason for losing a star from 4 to 3.

Unfortunately, my wife and I have had a severe case of food poisoning from our meal here today. It's such a shame because the meal was great and we enjoyed it. But, 2 hours later, we are both suffering! Our order today was tandoori chicken, naans, dal tadka and mutton biryani. Based on our opinion, this was caused by tainted meat (not sure if it was the mutton or the chicken). I would request the owner to check their current batch of meats to ensure that no other customers...

Update- Man, I'm here again the very next day for Lamb Rohan Josh. I neither know the hotelier nor the chef. But, I'm here again praising the lamb Rohan Josh.

Zaika is located in the basement of Dreamliner hotel. Any ride should take you there, because the hotel is just adjacent to the building in which Ride head office exists, next to Dreamliner hotel. Not an widespread menu. But, whatever we tried. They were good. Ask the way you want it, and they make it so. I asked for garlic butter naan to be soft and not crispy (in other places in Addis I have seen naan being crispy). They made it so. Chicken tikka was good and so fish tikka. Lachcha paratta was als o good, but naan was better than that. But, the star of the day was Lamb Rohan Josh. It was too good and went very excellently with garlic butter naan. I can't remember when was the last time I had such an excellent dish.Called the Chef and appreciated him. Will return again hungry for more of Lamb Rohan Josh.

They have a good collection of drinks. If you are a person who appreciates good drink with North Indian food, then this is the place to go.

Two years ago it was a great place to enjoy tasty food but now it's totally waste of money even price of food is also high but quantity which you will get is ok ok not as per paid amount. Taste is also changed now a days I don't know if they have changed Chief or whats going on.

Trust me if if you are willing to have your lunch or dinner then you will regrate.
