The Cashew Nuts Chicken is really a treat (this part of the review was made in early 2017).
2019 UPDATE:
The food remains good and they have done well to maintain quality of food and service standards as well. Our most recent eating experience was similar to our previous visits to this restaurant in previous years.
The only hiccup was that they did not have 2 similar glasses for water for the 2 of us! Picture is posted online.
As we were paying by credit card, the cashier told us there is a surcharge of 3% (which is the norm in Fiji Islands) and we were okay with that. The cashier billed us and charged our credit card.
Our bill was for FJ$35.00 and the 3% surcharge meant we had to pay FJ$1.05 additionally. When we looked at the credit card voucher we realized that we had been charged FJ$2.00 which meant we were charged at almost 6%.
Though the amount was a paltry 95 cents - this was a rude shock and amounted to cheating. The cashier refused to provide any satisfactory answer/explanation other than saying she had been asked to do likewise by her employers.
With some persuasive talk we managed to get the mobile contact of her employer. When we called the number - a Chinese lady answered the phone and acknowledged she was the owner of the restaurant.
When we explained the scenario to her - she instructed her staff to return the extra amount charged.
But, the question here is that why overcharge in the first place? How many people would end up being overcharged and never bother to verify facts or may do so later on when nothing can be done?
The review is questioning the business ethics. If someone can cheat for 95 cents - God only knows...
Read moreIt's a bit pricey for the quality of food. Food wasn't bad, ok. We ordered fried chicken and were asked bone or boneless, and we made the mistake of choosing boned. There were alotnof pieces, but seemed like they just crumbled the bone and gave it. There were only 3 pieces that had a decent amount of meat. However, the spices and garnish used was delicious. We also ordered prawn and eggs, which was extremely salty. It would have tasted better with the spices and garnish from the fried chicken. The next order was tepank peppered chicken, which was decent. Chicken seemed to be cooked separately and added to the gravy this the chicken it self didn't absorb any flavor. Thee same can be said for the last order, which was 5 spices chicken. We requested cold water but were...
Read moreWe came to Nan Yang restaurant, made an order and had to wait an hour for the first dish to arrive. Food was okay but definitely not worth the price. The size of servings was rather small. The environment was below expectations - cheap fan, village-style tablecloth, noisy conversations. The waitresses were very friendly so no...
