Beer Restaurant Solmu — Restaurant in Helsinki sub-region

All in all an ok pub but the finnish stuff there was either very unknowledgeable, shy and with short memory span or very deceptive, arrogant and entitled.

I asked for dunkelweizen beer. The blond girl working as a bartender looked through me and asked if I meant dark beer and started taking a closeby IPA. I said "no" and demonstrated the article from beeradvocate. Also clarifying that dunkelweizen is "tumma vehnä olut" in Finnish. The girl replied "Ah! I know what you mean!" and pointed at a dark bottle. I asked again if the beer was indeed "tumma vehnä". She nodded and poured the beer into a glass. I took a sit and tasted it. It was very bitter. And it looked transparent as an IPA. I googled the beer brand and saw that this was a regular dark beer. I returned the glass saying that it was not what I have asked for. She shrugged and said "ok" and continued doing her other stuff. Another bartender just confirmed that my order did not match the delivery and went away. No money returned. No apologies given.

The american dude who also worked there the other time was amazing though. I would definetely visit the place again when he was a bartender. Good talker, knew beer types and did not have even a bit of arrogance.

Always great to visit Solmu.. a very nice and atmospheric bar with a small food & snack selection but that is plenty. The only thing that Solmu needs would be more often live music. We have tried to offer several times but it is hard to get an answer from the manager.. by the way check (macandra music - Spotify...

The locals are a bit rough and ready, but the staff is great, knowledgeable and friendly. The beer selection is good and they have a beer flight (tasting of four draughts) for just 10€ which is about half of what one costs downtown.
