Genki Sushi — Restaurant in Helsinki sub-region

This is one of the few places in Finland where you can enjoy gyudon, and I wasn't let down. During my visit to Japan, I frequently opted for the affordable choice of gyudon, and it never failed to satisfy.

The restaurant is warm and inviting with pleasant lighting and some japanese/anime themed decorations. The staff was exceptionally courteous and polite. I have tasted their gyudon twice now and it seems that they have majorly improved the taste from last time. It tastes almost exactly like the gyudon you would find in Japan, I would argue even better! I would hope to have similar condiments like the famous sukiya gyudon garlic sauce, but they use such amazing flavours that it doesn't really need...

Had an excellent lunch at Genki Sushi today. I ate "1. Lohi Rulla Setti" from the lunch menu (11-15) for €13.90 and it was genuinely one of the best sushi lunches I've had. 14 pieces of mostly salmon nigiri, everything just worked—rice was spot on, not too warm or cold, and the fish was proper fresh and buttery. Compared to many buffet sushi that can be pretty lifeless and dull, but this is on the next level. They actually care what they make. Each piece looked good and tasted even better. For the price, this provides very good value. Coffee/Tea was included with lunch too, but didn't have time to test it today. Definately going back. Outstanding flavour at such a good price! The food came out really fast, with miso soup and salad included in the meal.

I’ve tried quite a few sushi places in Helsinki, from sushi buffet to a la carte, and I can say this is one of the best while being so affordable. And gyudon is really good. Now I have high expectation of other dishes.

One small point that can be improved (yet understandable because of the small place) is the cooking smell - smell of fried food is not...
